I enjoy looking at these shadows. I use a bright light, much like a security light you might have in the yard. I don't look directly at the lamp but slightly offset and then if I sway from side to side they become visible. I have been able to focus on them to such a degree that I can also see (sounds stupid I know) the blind spot. At first it appeared as a dot but the more I was able to focus, i realised the light was reflecting or refracting in such a way that it It appears as (if you'll bare with me) a 3D cone in the center of my vision. The whole image appears as a negative or x-ray. I've never seeked medical advice and it has never affected my vision. Just thought I'd share, this with you. Thanks for your time.
I can partly see the retina vascula vessles when I look through a small hole.....If I wake up in the middle of the night I have really bad visual snow too..almost like ant wars on TV (no signal on old CRTs).
Yuans, I am a high myope with the same problem - one eye only, first thing in the morning I see it when I get out of bed and the "shadow" is kind of yellow... It started about three monsth ago.
I work at Johns Hopkins Hospital and have an annual retina checkup yearly. Had one today in fact and mentioned it to my retina doc. She said that a small percentage of people have this phenomenon but she did not say it is necessarily indicative of anything bad. I got a clean bill of health. Just to be safe, you might want to have a doc dilate your eyes and check...
Doctor I can see such thing when I am running.Or the moment I jump up,it disappears very quickly. but every time I jump I can see it,a very big weblike shadow.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I mean the outline of the vessel of retina.its shape like the cobweb,i don't know how to say.it disappears quickly when i open my eyes, like the shadow of a lamp merge when you move your eyes from a lamp. I am very afraid of detachment of the retina.
Do you mean shadows of your vessels? This is normal.
