I dont know what's wrong with my eyes. I am 14 years of age and ever since i could remember i couldnt see in the dark. I remember at night when i would sleep with my cousin, she could see my face but i was COMPLETELY unaware of how hers looked like at that very moment. Since i am from Pakistan, it was very hassling for me to get around. Power outages were common there and there were poorly lit streets, My family had to hold me by the hand, so i wouldnt bump into things. This summer i went to a doctor and he explained to me that we have to types of cells in our bodies: One type to see in the day and the other to see in the night. He said the cells for the night are very weak. He said i had a vitamin deficiency. But im starting to doubt that can be the only reason. I really want to know why this happens. Does this have a name? Is it genetic? Is it curable? And, is it normal/common? Please i would like to know. In the U.S. i ahve no problem, really because the streets are so brightly lit. However if u turn off the lights then its like turning off the OFF switch in my head.
