Iritis: Contacts & LASIK

I was diagnosed with glaucoma & iritis several years ago & have kept both under control (aside from a current flare-up.)  I am trying to get back into contacts because glasses drive me crazy.  Should I avoid them due to the disease?  What about the surgery?  Would there be any concerns related to either disease?  My younger brother was diagnosed many years ago at age 12 & consequently went blind.  I hope to have a different outcome.

I advise my iritis patients to avoid contacts and my glaucoma patients (if moderate or severe) to avoid lasik.

Hi Armeda,

first I am sorry for your brother.

2nd i would advise you to ask your dr. or Optholmologist with full history  and also the genetic part of it (ur brother I meant).

3rd If I was you I would stick with glasses

Take care and good luck,
FWK
