toddler 3 year old eye pain addendum

Also, he does have slight circles under eyes in addition to the below comments, but he is also a bad sleeper, which I know can cause this.  He is generally very happy, but he says his eye hurts every now and then, see below:

3 year old complains of eye pain, but no crusting, no redness

My son is 3 years and 3 months old.  He has been complaining here and there for about 2 months about eye pain only in his left eye.  He has extremely long eyelashes, as do I, and I know that them getting into his eye can be the cause.  But his mention of the eye pain and rubbing has become more frequent, a couple of times a day, sometimes causing him to cry, but it seems to go away pretty quickly.  He complains the most when he lays down for a nap.  But there is no swelling, no conjunctivitis/crust.  Any ideas?  I am thinking a sty?  But it has been going on for so long, is it possible that he would have an infection for that long without showing more ill effects???

You need to have both your pediatrician and your pediatric ophthalmologist sign off as "no findings"  if the problem persists consider a referral to a ENT specialist.

It this gets a lot worse you may need to have a CT however for some time "watchful waiting" is often the best option.

I have had similar experience with my son that is 2.8 months and wakes up screaming about his right eye.  We saw a ped othamologist and she says he seems ok.  What is going on?  He did have a fever last week and has the sniffles.  I don't want to expose him to radiation of a Ct scan of his head....but I am at a loss.  please help.

Hi.  I was wondering if you son was still having the same issues.  My son who is 4 1/2 has the same symptoms and I am at a loss as to what this could be.  Last night he woke up about an hour after bed time crying with his eye and a head ache...the head ache was a first.  If you have any idea's i would love to hear them.
Thank you.
