My father has been getting temporary blindness in his left eye

My father has been getting temporary blindness in his left eye,
At first he would get it for just a few minutes but the other today it lasted over one hour, he said he could see nothing but blackness, and then it was red that he could see, as if it was blood behind the eye, he has server head ach at the back of his head, could this be some kind of blood clot, or blood vessel damage, he has had a transient stroke, before, but doctor’s tried to tell him he was just suffering from a Water infection, could a small transient stroke cause the blindness, or could this be something else?

Kind regards
Roppa.

Dear Dr Hagan,

Yes I agree with you, people who tend to be strong willed and stubborn often ignore warning signs, and often can die early, I have spoken to my father yesterday and today, he seems to be ok with no more trouble with his eye, he said he would go to the doctors tomorrow, would suggest that he see his doctor first, and explain to the doctor, would he then have to narrow down what might be causing this, by first having an eye examination, and then maybe having a CT Scan, does a transient attack show up as a small blood vessel clot in the brain while in the CT Scanner, or could High Blood Pressure cause this, I have been looking into the theory that my father may have had these attacks  like this one two days ago, from the result in trying to lift things that are to strenuous for him, I found out that, he was trying to lift one end of his friends Son’s motor bike which weighs 336Ibs, it was the next day when he found his eyesight in one eye was gone for over 1 hour, I just hope  he is able to convey to the doctor exactly what has happened, and also to his past history.

Kind regards.

Patients that have TIAs have a much higher than normal incidence of heart attacks and strokes no matter what their age. What your father needs and what he will agree to are probably way far apart. He needs a close relationship with a skill GP or Internist and probably services of several types of specialists.

You can do only so much for someone one that won't do what s best for them. I see "strong willed' patients every day. Over the years I've noticed they die off much earlier than compliant patients.

Dear Dr Hagan,

Thank you so much for your professional advise, I am most great full to you, the only trouble I have is in convincing my father there’s something wrong with him, he’s of old school, nearly 70 and thinks his body can just mend its self, he wouldn’t except that he had had a transient attack the last time, even our local hospital failed to notice what had happened to him, it was only one of my friends  who I was talking to at the time just after my fathers attack, who explained to me, that what I was describing about my fathers attack was that of a mini stroke or transient attack , and not that of a water infection, as he was told, as my father had been lifting a heavy freezer with me down our stairs, he was fine until about 5 or 10 minutes after when were sitting down, when my father suddenly started to shake, with his head moving rocking from one side, his breathing had went funny and one side of his face seemed to be floppy, he was sweating badly from his brow and later down his back, he later had memory loss when he came too , and later in the hospital he had another two or three similar incidences, but did not pass completely out but was rather confused, and did not recognise me for a short time, he has always been strong willed, and would not except what I was trying to tell him about the mini stokes, even the Junior Doctor at the time told me there isn’t anything milder than a mild stoke, but there is, a Transient attack, but she never told me that! I’m just glad he pulled through, but this maybe a warning sign, would you agree with me on this Dr Hagan, thank you so much again.

Kind regards
Roppa.

This is a potentially VERY SERIOUS side effect (possible TIA or transient ischemic attack). Many sesrious diseases of the heart, brain, blood vessels and eye disease can casuse this. Try and see his Eye MD tomorrow. Impresson them the complete blindness in one eye.

VIP to follow through.
