Pain months after vitrectomy with scleral buckle

Feb. 17th 2012, had surgery for retinal detachment, using the scleral buckle and gas bubble.  The gas finally disappeared late April.  The surgeon says that it is healing fine, but I still have an achy pain in the eye every so often during the day.  Nothing like it was after the surgery, but it is still there.  There is vision that is so/so.  I had visian lens implants in 2010 and lasik in 2011.  I have now developed cataracts in both eyes that will have to be dealt with at a later time, but now both eyes are photosensitive..tough going outside without sunglasses and it is tough getting the right reading glasses.  Any comments or suggestions?

If you have cataracts it's likely the photophobia will worsen as the cataracts grown. Get several consultations about your condition so you understand your options. That's about all the useful information I can give you.

I had scleral buckle surgery for RD last December and it took about 3 months until all of the discomfort subsided.  I understand it can take even longer for the vision to stabilize -- Dr. Hagan has remarked on this forum that it sometimes takes up to a year.  t still have some distorted vision in the operated eye which may or may not improve.  Ask your eye surgeon what he or she thinks, but I suspect you may need to give it a little more time,
