high myopia

hi i'm 14 years old and i have a very high myopia.
when i was small my parents did not notice that i have an eye problem and so i. they just knew it when we had an eye examination in our school when i was seven years old and i have a myopia of OS -6.00 sph OD -6.00 sph. i got glasses then. after 3 years we went to an optical center to check my eyes and it got higher (OS -7.00 sph OD -7.00 sph.) i got a new glasses. at first i did not are too much about it. i still do the activities i did before watching tv/reading books/surfing the net. when i turned 14 we went again to an optical center to have an eye check up and i was shocked when i knew that it got higher (OS -9.00 sph OD -9.00 sph.). the doctor said that my eyeglasses before (OS -7.00 sph OD -7.00 sph.) is not right for my eyes. i then got another eye glasses but this time it's -8.00 (OS -8.00 sph OD -8.00 sph.) because i can't handle the eye glasses with -9.00.
i wonder if the grade of my new glasses would affect my eyes?. . are there exercises to prevent the increasing of my myopia?. . is it good to have contact lenses instead of glasses?. .are there any possibilities that it would go higher and higher?. . should i go to an optometrist or opthalmologist to check my eyes?. .  which recommendation should I go with?..

You would see better with contact lens. It is uncertain if contcts slow myopia. Some studies suggest gas permeable contacts may be a better choice than soft contacts.

You need to see an ophthalmologist because high myopia increases the risk of things like retina holes/tears.

Use the search feature and archives to read about high myopia. Exercises don't help.  All of your glasses tests should be done AFTER  dilating your eye (post cycloplegic refraction) in order not to make your glasses too strong.
