Cloudy floaters after possible eye impact

I was in a martial arts class Saturday and got accidentally kicked in the face. The impact mainly hit my nose, and I don't even remember feeling anything in my eye, except right after my nose was hit, my right eye was red and watery. It didn't last long, and now there is no visible problem with the eye.  The next day, though, I started noticing a couple of little blurry cloud floaters that weren't there before.

I have regular black floaters-have had a lot of them my whole life. But never anything like this, so I figured my eye must've been damaged, and I didn't realize it.

I went to an optician yesterday because she had the ability to dilate my eyes and check for scratches on the cornea, and she couldn't find anything. I'm thinking I should go see a specialist...maybe an opthamologist. But in the meantime, has anyone had any experience with anything like this before?? Thanks.

The optician training is but a fraction of an Eye MD ophthalmologist.

Thanks! I am going to see one tomorrow. The optician said she couldn't see any retinal detachment--would she have been able to diagnose the other conditions you mentioned?

Yes you should see an ophthalmologist. Common injuries after that type of problem include bleeding in eye (hyphema), traumatic iritis, vitreous hemorrhage, retinal tear/detachment, orbital blow-out fracture.
