Thank you for the comments
What is meant by flashes of light? Today I am feeling small light flashes in the dark.
Can any one please explain?
Nope, it went into the ether.
So, my story is that I think got a retinal tear mid-July 2010, but only saw some black floaters that I attributed to age. (No light flashes). I then realized at the end of July that my vision in the overlapping area in my left eye was becoming shaded, so I called an optometrist on a Wed, and made an appt for that Fri, having no idea how serious it was. The optometrist immediately sent me to a retinologist who examined me for several hours, but decided to do the surgery on Monday instead of that evening because he thought there would be a higher level of competency overall. I had a minor complication because a sliver of my iris slid out a hole in my cornea, which was corrected through some minor surgery in an office visit the next day. (That was VERY uncomfortable)
And, because of continuing protocols to keep us out of the hospital, I made office visits twice a day for the next 4 days.
I got a scleral buckle with a gas bubble that dissipated in about 5 days, and was ultimately very happy with my surgeon. I think it's amazing that this technique has been continuously in use for about 75 years!

Then I did way too much research on the Internet, and scared myself silly.
My post op distortion is a tilted image that is mostly corrected by my muscles until I get tired and things get a bit wonky with a tilted double image. Oddly, the treated eye is sharper then before the surgery. I also had a slight size difference that seems to have self corrected over time.
There are plenty of support groups out there you can find by searching for "retinal detachment forum". However, some of the stories scared the sh*t out of me, so I couldn't maintain the threads.
And THIS year - a total left hip replacement a month ago! I'm in my 50s and falling apart! But at least there are good doctors and surgeons around.
So, again, good luck! Jan
Oops - I think I hit send by accident!
Anyway, best of luck with your continued healing and recovery!

The smaller size mean there is residual thickening or edema of the retina. The wavy/distortions means the same thing. This may not completely resolve but most patients function well when using both eyes.

Thank you dr ray oyakawa for your expert opinion.
Yes my glasses need to be changed.
I am more worried about wavy/distortion of image and smaller object than actual. Please if you can comment on these two.
I am working person with computer work, can I resume.
Regards
It can take some time for improvement. Your doctor will follow the progress with examination, OCTs, F/as. Your glasses may need to be changes.
