Rezoom lense explantation

February,08 Rezoom lens implanted in right eye-3 weeks later developed headache, right side of head with eye pain. Also, extreme light sensitivty. Returned to opthamologist. He had no idea what could be causing the headaches but the vision in my Rezoom eye was 20/20 .Primary care doctor sends me for MRI- comes out clear,.puts me on Advil and sends me to a neurologist who tells me I was neurologically fine, but if he were to guess, my headaches were directly related to my recent eye surgery. He would send his findings to the opthamologist. Then went to another opthamologist for a second opinion. By this time(May) the headaches and photophobia had started to subside and she said she believed the pain was due to "dry eye" So I began using theratears. All this time, I was also very concerned about the terrible "ghosting" and halos from my Rezoom lens when night driving.I fear, with another Rezoom, it would preclude my night driving altogether. In June,.I received a call from my eye surgeon saying he was  concerned and wanted me to see a cornea/refractive surgeon he recommended.  I went to see him in June.He found that I had a slight astigmatism in my right eye. He recommended that I try a couple of more conservative things for the ghosting and halos before considering explantation1-Alphagan drops-which didm't do anything and 2-laser surgery in an attempt to correct the astigmatism, thus hoping to help the "Diplopia" in the Rezoom eye.He said that If he leaves the Rezoom lens in and puts a monofocal in my left eye (which has a small cataract).this would not be an optimal solution-because my Rezoom eye is my strong (lead) eye . I'm scheduled for this laser surgery in a couple of weeks and I'm so afraid of more surgery, that may not even help- and yet I'm also in fear of explantation, Any suggestions, help or comments would be so appreciated-Thank you in advance.

If the problem is corneal astigmatism (the only type helped by corneal surgery) then wearing glasses over the IOL should help a great deal with night vision, ghosting and dysphotopsia.  If glasses doesn't help then I would get a second opinion before having the corneal surgery.

I am told the procedure is called Astigmatic Keratotomy-whereby an incision is made at the limbus to alleviate the astigmatism and relax the muscles. Thank you for your response and feedback.

What type of laser surgery are you going to have? Yag laser capsulotomy? Refractive eximer laser (Lasik)?
