Distant Vision

I had cataract surgery on both eyes a couple of months ago. Before the procedures, they said I would have
better distatn vision, but would have to give up some near. I was OK with that. Unfortuately what I have is
very blurry vision for distant in both eyes, and somewhat better near and intermediate. I am curious as how
that could have happened.

Glasses should make things right. Some near-sighted people dream of not needing glasses to drive or see out the window, others miss reading without glasses.

Thank you for your quick response. I'm due for my refraction screening soon.
Hoping all goes well. It's been hard feeling like my vision has been turned upside
down.     Happy New Year!

1. As long as you see well at all three distances with glasse (no line bifocals) you have had a good result.
2. As we have said many times here picking the right IOL to leave a person at a specific refractive error (say 0.00 for distance  -1.00 for intermediate or -2.00 for near) is not an exact science and the error is +/- 0.50 diopters. However with very long eyes, short eyes, eyes with previous RK or lasik, corneal disease like k-conus or with certain types of IOLs it increases to +/- 1.00 to 2.00 diopters.
3. There are other causes: errors in calculation/data entry/ data acquisition and wrong IOL power but these are thankfully rare.
