Sunlight

Can someone who has Ocular hypertension/Glaucoma be extremely sensitive to light. I have had Ocular hypertension for 14 years now and glaucoma runs in my family (fathers side). I have not been diagnosed as having glaucoma, all tests look ok. Had OCT, CORNEAL THICKNESS MEASUREMENT, VISUAL FIELD TEST etc, etc.My corneal thickness is 588 in both eyes respectfully and my doctor usually subtracts 2mmgh from my IOP readings. My readings have fluctuated between 19-23 over the last 5 years. Anyway I wanted to know if sunlight sensitivity has anything to do with this disease. I can not go out without sunglasses that is how bad my sensitivity is.

here are some other symptoms I have
- eye pain on and off
- my eye balls feel hard as well.

My angles are open according to my doctors.

Please advise. I am concerned.

Likely not but discuss it with your eye MD.

Thanks Doctor, that is what I was told in th epast...nice to confirm though.

Last question-  how about the pain in my eyes and the hardness does this have anything to do with Ocular Hypertension.

No its not your glaucoma suspect status. Most common cause is light color eyes (blue, gray, green, hazel) and big pupils.

Think hat with bill, sunglasses and regular glasses with tints or photochromic lens (transitions).

I have blue eyes and lifelong sensitivity to light.
