With a VA of 6/9 (20/30) you should be able to read reasonable well. Perahps you would do well to see another eye physician for a second opinion and a second glasses test.

Thanks for your reply.
I am in touch with my surgeon on a regular basis especially since my wife is also an MD in Pharmacology. He has opined that this could be due to withdrawal symptoms of Prednisolone Acetate 1% eye drops. And although I have tapered the dose thrice over a period of 3 months, the problem of reddishness of the operated (right) eye and the pain of eye ball persist periodically. So the last time when I spoke with my doctor over the phone, he said that some patients develop sensitivity and I should use a lighter dose of Prednisolone Acetate and has prescribed FML eyedrops to be taken twice daily for a week, once daily for a week and alternate days for a week. For the pain I should take Combiflam on SOS basis. This course was completed a month back but the problem persists though less frequent. I had redness in the eye and pain in the eye ball on June 28th. The doctor tested my eye and said that vision in my operated eye is 6/9 and has presribed Kryptok Bifocal white glasses of the following power:
SPH : -0.50 (Distance) +2.00 (Near)
CYL : -1.00 (Distance) -1.00 (Near)
AXIS: 180 (Distance) 180 (Near)
VISION: 6/6P (Distance) N.6 (Near)
By wearing these glasses I still cannot read nameplates and car numbers. If it is helpful I can give the report in the discharge sheet.
Thanks again.
I would go to an eye MD asap. The doctor can tell you tomorrow if you need a specialist.
You should be seeing your surgeon on a regular basis. What does he say about this?
It takes a while for the eye to settle in after retina surgery, but your symptoms require monitoring and a diagnosis. If you want a second opinion, find a retina ***@****. Only through examining your eye can an MD tell yu what is going on. I would make an appointment for tomorrow, depending on how long it has been since you saw the doctor, and if any of your symptoms have emerged since your last visit.
The doctor will answer your tomorrow. However, you still need to see a doctor.
