Will call to make eye appt. tomorrow. Okay, saw my pcp this morning, he's screening me for diabetes (checking my A1c & thyroid--TS4 &something else to do with thyroid), & he's given me referral to neurologist (I already have appt scheduled)--chief complaint: 4 more than 12 wks have had increasing nerve pain in extremities & my diff extremities will be diff temps at diff times. Also having weird vision issues like double vision & weiss ring floaters that I've not had before. Thoughts?
Having a Weiss Ring associated with a posterior vitreous detachment is not a risk factor for more likely having a hole, tear, or RD than PVD not associated with Weiss Ring. I have a Weiss Ring in my right eye and can see it as I type this response. It's just bigger than your average floater or as I tell patients "Like a redwood tree in a pine tree forest.
Like all floaters most people either no longer see the WR when it drops to the bottom of the eye or due to neuroadaptation the brain "tunes the WR and other floaters out".
The WR is were the vitreous use to attach around the optic nerve.

I have one large floater as a result of a Weiss Ring detachment in my right eye. Having been seen by an opthamologist and having 2 machine tests show no retina detachment (but, w/out dilating drops could not rule out any tear that can sometimes accompany Weiss ring detachments). Also, when in a darkish room, i see a crescent of light in the upper inner corner of my eye and one in the lower outer corner of my eye as i move my eye around. I am against having any dilating drops administered to my eye for further testing because of my suffering with server multiple chemical sensitivities. It has been three weeks since the onset of this problem. Should i expect there be less chance of my having a sever potential problem (retinal tear) from this as time goes on? I have noticed that my vision has changed slightly. In my right eye, it's gone from 20/20 to 20/25. Is this significant? Thank you, Deborah

Be sure your "doctor" is an physician Eye MD ophthalmologist. An optometrist is not a physician and has about half the training as an Eye MD

Yes, contact your doctor. I don't know if your symptoms are significant, but it doesn't hurt to call and ask.
