Why do my eyes feel weird looking at certain objects?

Recently, I have discovered this new feeling related to my eyes. The feeling is hard to discribe but its quite strange.

When I look at certain objects such as trees, spears or anything pointy/sharp, I get this feeling within my eyes. This feeling forces me to look away from the object. I wouldnt call the feeling pain its more discomfort.

Sounds really weird but I dont have a clue what it could be related too. If I had to discribe the feeling, imagin someone holding a pin to your eye and slowing moving it forward, your reaction would be to look away, thats the best I can discribe it.

Hope you can help.

Mark

And I forgot to mention my husband has suffered from the same ever since he was a boy of about 7 as well. Obviously there appears to be a hereditary link.

Wow, I am truly astounded to stumble across this forum after googling to find an answer for my son. He is now 12 and has suffered from this exact same condition since he was about 7 or 8. He also is a migraine sufferer. They were at their worst at about the same time this condition started with the pointy objects. He has had a CT scan that was perfectly normal.

I have headaches literally all the time (from sinus/allergy issues) and suffer from ocular migraines (auras) quite frequently. I have always thought he was taking after me and experiencing auras too, just not expressing himself clearly about his symptoms. But as he's gotten older and been able to better articulate what happens to him, I realize it's not auras. He does have some general anxiety issues and has always had a sensitivity to loud noises (hand dryers in public restrooms make him nuts). He has perfect vision, is a normal weight (underweight if anything. He is a terribly picky eater especially foods with different textures) and has no other medical conditions. He tells me that the more he thinks about the pointy objects, the worse it is and if he forces himself to think about other things, the problem goes away. It seems worse in school and even looking at the corners of numbers and letters can cause pain.

So many things that everyone here has mentioned really resonate with me and my son's case. I can't believe so many people are suffering and there is not even a hint of a cure. I'll continue to check this forum in hopes that something can help him.

I have the same problem. My name is Nugent, 25 from SA. Ever since I can remember I have felt nervous when im around sharp object, however it does not happen all the time. I need help and glad im not the only one in the world. Ive been to doctors, optometrists and psychologists and no one could diagnose this condition. My eyes are very sensitive to light, and I will have to squeeze my tight, bite my lip or look away in order to not freak out sometimes. Who else has this? Is there some treatment?

My 11 year old has suffer from headaches for 3 years now. She mention the pointy, n corners issues. He have been refer to neurologist.finally. Her MRI is in a week. The doctor looked as use like we are crazy then we mention the corners and sharp objects. She keeps telling me that the headaches r starting to go away with the meds they give her but the eyes is the problem. She hold her head all to he time. She tells me that pulling on the side of her eyes out helps (like to make Asian looking eyes (sorry don't know how to describe)) as well has pressure where her eyes meet with nose.

Wow, I'm 27 now and I've had this since I was a kid. (I actually remember the first time I felt it. In a drug store there was this pointy metal shelf) I'm glad I'm not alone with it.

I mainly seem to "feel" it when  I see a pointy (usually metallic but not always) object. When I have to wash/put up forks knives I have to look away, but when I am using it I don't usually get bothered. Nails sticking out of the wall really get me. Low light seems to make it worse.

A restaurant that I eat at a lot has a couple of these things on the counter where you order: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZzIlzH4WLVg/TaxG96nL4JI/AAAAAAAACzM/hLn-fZXGELI/s400/21SSgUplvrL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

They really bother me bad and I have to look away when I am ordering my food.

I hope that this "feeling" isn't some side effect from something more serious.
