Why do my eyes feel weird looking at certain objects?

Recently, I have discovered this new feeling related to my eyes. The feeling is hard to discribe but its quite strange.

When I look at certain objects such as trees, spears or anything pointy/sharp, I get this feeling within my eyes. This feeling forces me to look away from the object. I wouldnt call the feeling pain its more discomfort.

Sounds really weird but I dont have a clue what it could be related too. If I had to discribe the feeling, imagin someone holding a pin to your eye and slowing moving it forward, your reaction would be to look away, thats the best I can discribe it.

Hope you can help.

Mark

Wow.  What a relief to find this forum.  My son has been affected by this same condition since he was around 5 years old.  Interestingly when he was 6 he was treated for hayfever and I have only just realised - when he was taking Rhinocort nasal spray, he didn't seem to have the issue so often.  I didn't realise there might be a link until now!  Will try Claratin and or Rhinocort and report any results.
Like most of the readers here, it's worse at night, when tired and is also triggered by cutlery, pens, corners of furniture etc.
Such a relief to find you all. Thanks tomsav for keeping this research going.  I am also pondering the idea of hypnotherapy and wondering if it will help?

I've been following this post for over a year and have also suffered from the same symptoms since I was a kid. Did anyone try the Claritin and, if so, did it help?

I am 23 years old and have three years that I suffer from pain in the right eye with photophobia and many other symptoms including this feeling of having sharp objects such as scissors and knives or hanging signs in supermarkets and street signs that come in my eyes! But now I'm better when I realized that the cause could be my malocclusion! Every now and negative symptoms still appear but are much improved, before I could not even turn my head right, eyes could not keep up with the movement of the neck! What strikes me is that I had to search in English (I'm Italian ) to find other people with the problem of sharp objects that come into my eyes! In Italy there are a lot back! Had I understand that my problems were not because of my eyes but something else!

I am so glad I have found this. Ever since I was a child I have had this issue. I can't do the dishes because the pain/discomfort will happen and I'll have to drop the silverware and put my hand on my head near my eyes. Just a couple of minutes ago I was getting coffee at my office and it just happened suddenly and the corners of the cabinets and the coffee machine and the spoon was just too much. I couldn't get away from the points so I just stood there trying to find something that wasn't pointy while also trying not to look like a lunatic freaking out while covering my eyes in the middle of the kitchen while making a cup of coffee. Needless to say I got some weird looks.
My family has always known about the discomfort. When I was younger my older sister would try and do my makeup for me but when she would go to put anything near my eyes I would have to move my head out of the way and rub my head/eyes.
Right now as I am typing this since I just had an incident, the corners of my laptop are killing me. I have to keep looking away. I'm not afraid of pointy or sharp objects. Majority of the time I can look at sharp and pointy objects. But something triggers it out of the blue and I can't even be near it.
The first time I heard about this problem I was watching a documentary about children with OCD. Believe it or not there was this one boy and he had OCD and he couldn't stand corners or pointy object. While filming he had to have to camera men move everything out of the room until it was just him and his bean bag chair. I have been to a psychologist and I have yet to be diagnosed with OCD so I'm still not sure what the problem is.
I have been thinking maybe it has something to do with poor vision. But looking at these posts I have seen that even people with perfect vision have this problem too. Maybe it's sinus pressure. Maybe it's eye strain. Who knows. But someone needs to figure it out because I don't think I can take this pain much longer.
