Yellow/Green Discharge & Blurry Vision

Retinal detachment surgery in 25 February.
Cataract surgery in 21 June.
Yag capsulotomy in 8 August.
All on left eye this year.
Currently only using artificial tear type eye drops.

Yesterday morning I woke up with my eye pretty much glued shut and the tear duct(?) somewhat painful. Slowly rinsed away the gunk and got my eye back open again. But immediately noticed that my vision is very blurry compared to just a couple days ago. The normal, for me, dry/irritation in the eye is still with me after the gunk is cleared out.

Using the eye drops (Refresh) seems to help briefly with the dry eye irritation and a little with the blurry vision. However, the blurry vision comes back pretty quick. The tear duct pain seems to be gone. But the yellowish discharge is still with me and my eye was glued shut again this morning. Also the discharge seems to persist during the day and I frequently find my eye-lashes are coated in the gunk.

I plan to try to make an appointment with my Opthalmologist when their office opens on Monday morning.

However, given my long history of eye problems, I am curious what this may be. And the best course of treatment until I can get in to the doctors. I have some left over (new tube) of erythromycin ointment incase it could be some infection. However, I don't like to self medicate unless I am pretty sure about the situation. The Refresh drops seem to briefly help with the symptoms but obviously are not helping fix the problem.

Thoughts?

Thanks for your quick response.

Unfortunately my option for getting to my military doctor here in Germany aren't real good. I could go in and sit for hours in the ER waiting until the on-call Opthalmologist gets in however, I think I will opt for the antibiotic ointment and try to get into office on Monday morning.

Twice/day on the erthromycin ?

Call you doctor.  He or an associate should be on call.  You probably have an infection and need antibiotics.  It would not hurt to use the erythromycin ointment.
