cataracts

My mom had cataract surgery and lens implant.  The first surgery went great.  When she went back to do the other eye, big problem.  The doctor said that the cataract burst and fluid washed the lens away and the doctor could not retreive the lost lens.  The doctor put another one in place.  My doctor has had alot of problems and still is.  Her pressure is high and had to go on glacoma meds to reduce it.
HAD THIS EVER HAPPENED TO ANY OF YOU OUT THERE?  AND HOW ARE YOU?

No inside the eye (vitreous cavity).  Eyelash would be on the outside of the eye.

Does the lost lens go back behind the eye like an eyelash would?

Yes this is a known compllication of cataract surgery. The cataract can cut the membrane that holds it in place allowing it to drop into the back part of the eye. When this happens inflammation, pain, blurred vision, glaucoma are often problems and the course is "stormy". Often a second operation done by a retina surgeon has to be done to remove the 'dropped" cataract from the back of the eye.
