corneal scar

My daughter was scratched by a jellyfish on vacation a few months ago.  During a regular eye exam, the doctor noticed a corneal scar.  It is on the side of the eye, not the iris or pupil.  The doctor said that she wouldn't go blind, but I'm wondering if it will get worse and affect her vision in the future.

Today during an eye exam for a cataract surgery consultation, the surgeon noted my left eye had a corneal scar and asked if I ever wore contact lenses.

He said the scar was outside the central range of vision so shouldn't affect sight in that eye.

I did wear contacts for nearly 40 years until the last few years.  First with the old "hard" contacts and later newer RGP and then RGP bitoric contacts.  Was any of these type contacts known to sometimes scar the cornea somehow?  I hope if was the older type and not the modern RGP contacts.

I've worn them since 1977 and haven't had any corneal issues.  Started out with hard lenses (AquaForm) followed by RGP lenses (Boston).
Any type of contact lens including the most advanced used today can leave scars on the eye.

No it should not change and should not be a problem.
