You don't have any options except to see an Eye MD ophthalmologist ASAP. Find one near you at www.geteyesmart.org   Call and ask for an emergency visit. You do not have to have a primary care physician nor do you have to have insurance. Most offices will give discount for cash payment or are willing to set up a payment schedule.

I have been reading about all the possibilities of what it could be. I don't have a primary physician, or for that matter insurance.  I just wish I knew what my options were.

Call your personal physician tomorrow early. Ask for an emergency referral to an Eye MD ophthalmologist. You should be checked tomorrow even if you need to go to the ER and be seen by the eye MD ophthalmologist on call. You should have been referred by the optom to an ophthalmologist while you were in the office. Take action.
