ok, thanks for your kind advise
At this point you need to talk to his ophthalmologist. You might make a list of his questions and go with him to his next appointment and ask the surgeon and his/her staff the questions.

Oh! I am sorry, I thought macular hole and macular degeneration are the same condition.
Is there much more can be done after he was given eye injection, which according to him didn't do much help. Let me know if I should provide more informations for you to be able to comment further.
Hoping to hear from you!
A macular hole and dry/wet macular degeneration are two entirely different conditions and not related as to cause. On this page under "Todays Pulse" click on the dots till you find my paper on macular degeneration treatment/prevention.
Most macular holes are the result of traction on the macula by the vitreous and not preventable.

Thank you for your valuable information. I browse over some of the discussion and from your comment, it is suffice to say that there is indeed no cure to macular hole, except to contain it from further deterioration.
I came across one of the issues in macular hole that it is recommended to get into correct diet and to strengthen the wellness of the eyes. thus arresting the condition and preventing the left eye from developing into wet type macular hole.
.Is there a possibility that his right eye may sympathize and may also develop macular hole in the near future?
Since you are computer literate use the search feature and archives and search "macular hole" and macular hole surgery. You can print off the discussions and review them with your friend.
I cannot answer your questions specifically because there are so many variables. Suffice it to say macular holes are not cured by surgery, the surgery is done to try and keep them from getting bigger. They do not make the macula normal. His retina surgeon is the person to ask these questions OR he can see a second retina MD for another opinion.
