monofocal IOL lens

my father has recently gone through a cataract surgery. his doctor has implanted an eyecryle mono-focal. i think the material is pmma. i want to know if we choose another type of better iol lens, would it affect his vision? i mean sth like seeing differently via different eyes?
besides, what is the best type of monofocal iol?

There are many fine IOLs in use worldside. Tecnis and Acrysof in monofocal, aspheric are excellent.

For most cataract surgeries today, what is used is either a foldable acrylic or silicone implant.  These can be inserted into a very small incision (usually about 2.2mm) and unfold in place after insertion.  The advantage is that the incision is small and recovery is quick.  Tecnis and Acrysof both make excellent monofocal IOL's of this type.  These have the additional advantage of an aspheric shape, which reduces glare caused by high order aberrations in the cornea.

I doubt if there would be much difference, or advantage, in implanting two different types of monofocal IOL's in separate eyes.

your spelling and perception is wrong. It's acryl  short for acrylic plastic.   PMMA is hard plastic and not used much anymore since it won't fold and go through small incision.
