First get a second opinion from another eye MD. You know what a scar is. Scarring of the retina is just what it sounds like. The scar can come from injury, bleeding, infection, birth malformation, high myopia. If the scar is in the reading part of the eye (macula) then cataract surgery may not improve your vision.
