tetracycline and bacteria infections

I have been on tetracycline for Occular Rosacea for a few years but recently my one doc said he was concerned about the reaction with sunlight here in Florida and would like me to reduce dosage which was twice daily.  I have
skipped some days and only one a day occasionally and the Rosacae issues have been very mild  however I seem to get many more bacteria infections inmy eyes ( pain- discharge ) and more severe than in the past.   My question is does the tetracycline have any effect on bacteria infections ????  could they be related ??

Thanks

Yes, TCN can reduce the amount of blepharitis and skin erruptions/infections. In some people it can cause photosenstization. You may need to wear SPF 50 sunblock, hat with bill and long sleeves

Thanks.  I thought maybe it was related. I guess we have to find a happy medium and I  do take precautions with the sun as you stated .    Neo / Poly Dex  drops help  when I have flare ups but the docs have said not to use them too much - seems to all be a balancing act I have to get figured out.  My PCP felt the  TCN was causeing low vitamen D and Thyroid readings on my blood test so that is why we tryed lowering the dose- the Vitamen D and thyroid is good now but infections more common. I have appoinments to get them all working together maybe a smaller dose taken regularly is the answer .
Thanks again-
