Floaters after silicone oil removal

Hello, just wondering if I should be seeing floaters after the silicone oil is removed from eye after RD six months? I should also state during my last surgery just over a week ago, I had a lens fitted, have a gas bubble in (which is getting smaller) and have been using constricting drops until the bubble disappears. I had appointment with my surgeon and everything seemed to be ok and retina was stable. I have a fear that the retina has detached again just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? It really only happens when I'm outside because it's obviously brighter than inside. Looking forward to any responses.  Thanks in advance.

I suspect you will have floaters all your life. In time you may learn to ignore them or they may drop to the bottom of the eye out of your line of sight. Best of luck. Remember your other eye is at high risk of RD. Take good care of it as its your most important eye.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have had floaters all of my life - I was assuming they would have been taken out during virectomy. I had RD in both eyes at the same time so my other eye already has a buckle fitted and have had no problems and full sight. I just panicked when I saw the floaters again because it brought back bad memories of RD. I was happy though when I went to bed and didn't see any lights/flashes. Thanks again.
You are welcome best of luck
Hello again, I'm experiencing something or maybe be experiencing something new and just wondering if this is normal. I must say that the floaters have gone away or I've stopped noticing them except one. I'm just wondering how long it should take for my eyesight to something somewhat normal? Although I can see, if I close my good eye, I can see around me and have peripheral vision, can see my hand outstretched, above and below my eye, I just see what I can describe as seeing the oil in my eye - mainly in the centre but clearer on the bottom. I'm concerned if my retina has detached again but I have not seen any flashes at night. I have an appointment for my surgeon during the week but I just want to put my mind at rest. Maybe I'm over reacting - I'm not sure. Are flashes always associated with RD - if I'm not seeing them - is this a good thing? I might see if I can get my eye checked tomorrow. I would love to out my mind to rest this evening though. Many thanks.
Use the search feature and archives and read the many posts by people who have had that type of surgery. It is very unique and it is not possible to generalize nor tell you when or if you vision will improve. Oil is used for the worst RDs and many do not recover anywhere near normal vision. In some cases it can take over a year for the vision to stablize. Sorry I can't help or reassure you.
