What about already IOU or power assisted (reading) artificial lens already in place (about 4 years) ?
I am 8th day post RD/vitrectomy surgery with bubble, how actually bubble looks like. I still don't see boundaries inside the eye but see things close up like seeing through melted ice.
Although, everyday there is incremental improvement in eye sight.
Cannot See image in mirror just the color of cloths, facial boundary (no details) but of course can see tip of eye dropper
In eyes with their natural lens (phakic) a vitrectomy is almost always followed by cataract formation.

I had vitreotic surgery in middle of April and still have a little bit og as bubble left. Cataracts developed and like you said it is similar to looking through a rubber ball. Still waiting for gas bubble to go away and then have cataract surgery. Like Tom Petty said the waiting is the hardest part. Thankful for good vision in other eye.
The reabsorption varies depending on what gas (air vs SF-6) and how much and the eye's circulation. You can use the search feature and archives to read the many posts from people with gas bubbles in their eyes, obvisouly discuss with your surgeon also.

I had the same surgery in February. The gas bubble disappeared about 3 weeks ago. For me it was like looking at something underwater. I've been told that the vision can fluctuate for 6 months to a year. With me, some days it is good, others not so good. I'm not sure if I have helped you, but you are not alone, this has been a tough thing to recover from.
