Heart Broken

I had Ectopic surgery on my left tube, but just the tip was damaged. & Dr says he can attach it back to my uterus when it heals. My right tube was inflamed so it got cleaned out. It has been the worst experience I have ever had. My heart hurts it took 3yrs to conceive & i lost my baby. It was the lap surgery. And my husband and I really want children together. My only son is already 15yrs. I want to know if there is anyone else out there that this has happend to? Does anyone else out there think I should attach my left back and risk another ectopic or work with the right? And is there anyone out there that the exact same thing happend and did you conceive again? PLEASE answer.

http://www.havingbabies.com/infertility-treatment/treatment-costs/

Check this one for the cost which depends on many factors like age, cycle and so on.

The cost is not including $315 first consulation, $350 screening.  $450 for anesthesia for egg retrieve, $1500 for ICSI and $70 for each blood work post cycle visit (usually after you get BFP, they test progresterone and HCG so it costs $140 each visit and you need to test every week, I go to my kaiser right after get BFP and send the result to RE since I got ectopic before so kaiser allows me to test every 2-3 days).  Medication is around $2500-$6000 for each cycle depends on your dose and where you get it - from pharmacy or from someone's left over.  That's all I could remember.  If you have PPO insurance, it may cover some blood work.  Good luck.

Congratulations Tessa on your pg. & babywanted556 on your bundle of joy. Well I have a Dr. appt. on Monday so that will be the day I will actually know what he has to say about my tubes. From what my husband said the Dr. told him I can still have children. I never had any other problems w/my tubes until this. Dr. told me before it was hard for me to conceive because I had been on birth control for 12yrs. But I have thought about fertility treatments. If you ladys dont mind me asking how much does IVF cost? I guess I can research it. Im sorry that you ladys had togo through this as will & more my heart goes out to all you. & Thank  you for your comments. I'll be back! Thank you trying43 & lots of baby dust right back at ya!

After 5 failed IUIs and 1 IVF, my second IVF turned out ectopic pg.  I don't have to remove the tube because it resolve itseft and not sure which tube cause it, but my third IVF is also ectopic.  Finally, I remove the left tube.  Ofcourse, my heart was broken because it took us more than 4 yrs TTC and a lot of treatment.  My beautiful son will be 4 months next week at my 5th IVF.  So, you could conceive again just a matter of time and you might get higher chance to get ectopic again if you keep the damage tube.
Good luck, alot of baby dust to you.

preciousangel - I had an ectopic pregnancy last April.
When I had the laparoscopy afterwards the doctor found that both of my tubes were scarred, blocked and not fixable.  So they removed both tubes.  We were devastated really, as this meant our only chance at a pregnancy would have to be through IVF.
I know that if my tube had been fixable there would have been a higher chance of another ectopic and I would not have wanted to go through that hard experience again.  However I think if it's possible to salvage a tube, at least then you have a chance of becoming pregnant on your own without medical intervention.  Only having one tube cuts your chances in half - and if you've already been ttc for 3 years you don't want to reduce your chances.
For us it has turned out well - we had our first IVF cycle in October and I am now 7 weeks pregnant.  I do know that having my tubes removed increased our chances of success with IVF - as even IVF can result in an ectopic if you have had tubal problems previously.   But i'm still very sad that if we want to try for a sibling then we will need to go through IVF again.

After ttc for 3 years - have you considered fertility treatments?  I would base my desicion on that question.  If you are set on conceiving yourselves then get the tube re-attached and try try try.   If you are able to consider injectables with IUI or IVF then leave the tube as it is and focus on moving forward with those options.
Good luck and lots of baby dust to you.  Tessa

I have never had an ectopic.  But we had problems ttc and also had 2 m/c. Does your doc think attaching it would place you at higher risk for ectopic if you reattached the tube?  If not then I would say reattach it, it could give you a better shot.  I am all about improving the odds in any way I can.  Hopefully someone who has been through this can help more than me.  Sorry you are going through this. Good luck to you.
