I had 6 embryos transferred, Day 2

I have had my pregancy tests - 2 of them and I am pregnant. Yay!  I won't have an ultrasound until April 15th at which point we'll find out how many are in there!  I have been fairly 'crampy' since the transfer and wonder what happens if 3 or more have taken!?!  I think we could handle twins, but can they remove others if there are more...and if so, how?

The reason we decided to transfer all my fertilized embryos (I started with 12 eggs to fertilize) is because I am 44 years old and only 5 of the 6 were good (graded as B) and this is basicially our only chance at having a child of our own.

Anyway, just curious if anyone has any further information about what happens if too many embroys embed and how that is dealt with.  Thanks everyone:)

Yep, those be some high numbers considering that was day 10!   That's 5 days earlier then my blood test on day 15!!!  And you usually don't even get a positive pregnancy test till day 14!   Wow!!!  Well, I hope if more then 2 did take, you can manage to carry them.  It would be so hard to reduce if it were me.  I mean, they are your babies, and you worked so hard to get them.  I know there are lots of ladies that carry more then 2 just fine.  My heart would always have a whole in it, it would seem,..

Yes, the first blood test was done exactly 8 days after transfer and my level was 1,201.

My second blood test was done 15 days after transfer and that's when it hit 14,999!!

Still seems like a lot to me:)

Do you know exactly how many days it was past your transfer?  That would help.  My first test was 10 days after my 5 day transfer, it was 296.  2 days later, (12 days after transfer) it was 538.  The actually day count helps to know.

Thanks:)  My first bloodwork was two weeks after transfer and the second was another week following that.  Yeah, I'm surprised how high my levels are (especially compared to yours!), but the clinic told me 'there's no such thing as TOO high', whatever that means.  I'm sure they're just trying to pacify me to a point so I don't worry.  One week to go:)

How many days past transfer were you when you did your bloodwork?   I did a five day transfer and 10 days past transfer my hsg was 296.  I had twins.  I hope the 15th brings fantastic news.  There is a show on tlc called 6 little McGhee's maybe you should watch it :) lol

Yes, I did have bloodwork and my last test my hCG levels were pretty high at 14,999, considering I'm only 3 weeks along, indicating a likelyhood of multiples.

Yes, I'm hoping for twins too!

Thanks everyone for the comments - I will find out one way or another in 10 days:))

They will suggest selective reduction, if three or more take.  You do not get to choose, however.  It is a sensitive process, and they remove the one(s) closest to the cervix, who might create a problem for the pregnancy anyway as they grew, and who are easiest to reach without impacting the other(s).  I hope you had only one take, or twins.  Good luck!!!!!!!

Congrats!!!! Did you do a pregnancy test at home or did they do bloodwork? If bloodwork, did they tell you what your # was? Sometimes that can be a "hint" as to how many may have taken.  They can do selective deduction, but, at that point, you would have to decide "whom" to terminate, as of then, you will have seen your babies on the ultrasound, which is when most of us have just fallen in love with our little ones.  I will hope for you that no more then 2 have taken so you are not faced with that.
