IVF protocols

What protocol did you use for your IVF? I was just reading about protocols and kept reading about the long protocol that uses Lupron and how it seems to have the best results. I was on BCP for 3 weeks but RE did not have me do lupron. I am starting my stims on wed. did anyone do BCP without Lupron?

I am 40y and am on the long lupron protocol.  I did BCPs overlapping with lupron for 5 days, lupron alone for 6 days and now I am on 225u Bravelle and 10u lupron in am and 150u Menopur in pm.  It is only day 2 of stims but I am hoping this works.

I did not do birth control pills (I have crazy allergies), was on lupron for 9 days I think and then the stims. Got 15 eggs, 9 fertilized, 5 survived to day 3, transferred 3, have one 14 month old son, other 2 embies are frozen.

30 eggs--that is really good isn't it?  Can I ask what your FSH level was before the ivf?

I started with 3 weeks of BCP, then started Lupron 3 days before finishing BCP and continued it for 15 days with baby aspirin. Then started Follistim and Menopur 5 days after starting Lupron, and took 8 days for my follicles to grow. Ended up with 30 eggs, so it worked out pretty well for me.

I was never given a day 21 progesterone test. I will ask my RE about this. i am 38 so like Mel said - maybe for older women, Lupron is too much of a suppressant? I'm pretty sure i ovulate on my own though.

I didnt ovulate on my own and I was on lupron. They use the lupron to supress your system, some women might not need this. There are many different protocols that are used in IVF.What works well for one person might not work for another. The best answer would be to ask your doctor why he is giving you certain medications and not others.

Did they do 21 day progesterone test on you? If you ovulate on your own they have to give Lupron if not they dont give I believe.

I did both BCP & Lupron.   Yes, try not to compare I learned it all depends on peoples hormone levels/age.  There are many factors.  Best Wishes to you!!

HELLO, I think they use different protocols depending on your age and what your egg quality and production will be like. I am older, 39, and they put me on short protocol which i was quite glad about as much quicker, anyway in regards success rate I think again it depends on the individual. It worked for us and it was our first time trying ivf, i am now nearly 6 weeks pregnant.whats bcp? i was on buserelin and menopur? good luckxx keep me posted melissa
