Light pink bleeding at 10 wks pregnancy..PLEASE HELP

Hi All - I am exactly 10 weeks pregnant today and I started to see light pinkish bleeding a few times I wiped.  I am really scared as I miscarried twice in the past but that was really early into the pregnancy (btw 4- 5 wks).  My question is it normal for this type of bleeding at 10 wks and has anyone experience this and went on to a healthy pregnancy?  Also, its Sunday and not sure if I should call my doctor today or wait til tomorrow morning.  Any feedback is appreciated.  Thank you so much.

I'm happy to hear you're doing well!  I guess any kind of bleeding worry us, especially if it took us so long to get pregnant.  I am learning to take it easy and enjoy our pregnancy as much as we can, the less we worry the better it is for us and the baby!  Thank you and best of luck to you too!

It sounds like you already got some good information.  But just this past Thursday I was in a similar boat.  I went to the bathroom and had pink blood a decent amount.  I had no more bleeding that night just what was left from the initial bleed. It got browner throughout the evening until there was no discharge at all.  I was 6 weeks 3 days pregnant.  It was too late in the day to reach my Re so I called the next morning and they had me do an Ultra Sound that afternoon even though I was scheduled for my first US 4 days from that day. They could see the fetal pole and sac and everything looked fine and a good heart beat could be seen. The Dr. Just said that it happens and it was probably nothing.  That was Friday and I just cancelled my US for today because I just had that one.  They want to see me back in a week or so for the second US.

I hope it helps a bit to hear it just happened to me and I was told it would be ok.  I was told it is quite normal although it is not something they like to see.  Best of luck to you, I am sure all will work out!!

I just wanted to keep you guys updated on my situation.  I called the doctor's office this morning and they asked me to come in.  Good news is we got to see the baby and so far everything looks good but like Tina had mentioned in her post my placenta is low lying.  He said not to worry and this is normal in early pregnancy and hopefully it'll move out of the way later in pregnancy.  I am a bit worried but doctor said not to stress out too much and take it easy, as this can cause other things.  So I wanted to thank you guys for your feedback.  It was very helpful.  Good luck with you guys and keep in touch.

From what they told me, activity and exercise should be carried on as you normally would b4 pg. But, I had a low lying placenta. Placenta Previa and did not know it. When the placenta is that close to the cervical opening, you run a high risk of mc until the uterus stretches and pulls it away. I wasn't aware of the issue and the strain of carrying groceries in was enough to cause my mc. They said bedrest would have possibly prevented it, if I had known.

Normally, mc's are the result of chromosomal issues. They did karyotyping on my baby and it was a genetically sound boy. Just a bad bread.

I really don't want to worry you, as many women do have bleeding during the 1st trimester. I think the figure is something like 80%. But, I always lean toward the obsessive end and would rather be too cautious than not enough.

Tina...

Wow...I'm sorry about your mc. We've talked a couple of times, but don't recall us sharing history. I think I m/c'd early 8wks because I too had too much activity, but didn't know I should stay in the bed. They never told me it could be from being too active...just a feeling I had. I was told if you m/c before or at 8wk mark, there is something wrong with the chromes...at least that is what my RE told me. I saw what you wrote & it struck a thought about my m/c.

I had lots of bleeding through my first trimester.  Try to bed rest today and call your ob in the am.  They should monitor you closely with any bleeding activity.

I would stay off my feet the rest of today and call the dr in the am. It is most likely nothing to worry about. But, better safe than sorry. I mc due to low lying placenta and too much activity at 12wks. I had just a little pink when I wiped. I was told if I had stayed down I may not have mc. Please do take it really easy and call dr to get an u/s. I really do not want to scare you at all. But, it's better to take precautions for no reason than the opposite.  Good luck!

HOPE...

First off...CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy! I've heard many women speak of spotting & also light bleeding that carried to full term w/o any other problems. My aunt was bfp w/cousin & bleed the first 6 months of her pregnancy & went to full term & delivered a healthy babygirl. I hope this comforts you in at least a small way. Be encouraged.

I say if you are concerned...Do call your doctor, that is what they are there for & if you need reassurance, they should be able to give you that. If they aren't avail & you are still concerned...I say go to the emergency room. Whatever it takes for you to be reassured about your pregnancy is what you should do.

You can also do a search here on Medhelp for spotting or light bleeding to read what other women have posted & possibly contact them to ask questions. You will get a lot of support on this site...the women here are some of the most Fabulous I've met. I hope you find the help you need. Try as much as possible not to stress...I know that is easier said then done, but hopefully you'll be able to  relax your mind a little. I'd probably be a stone nut...running to the grocery store, the vet...I mean whoever I thought might help. ;o) That was meant to be a funny, but I was very SERIOUs about what i'd do. (ha) Take care & post an update when you can about what you decided to do.
