Get him to a urologist and make sure he does not have a varicocele. Those are correctable and it can make all the difference to sperm count.
Thanks!
we have an appt in a couple of months (can't handle the wait)
just wanted to see if anyone had any success to get some inspiration
If there's not sperm there's no way you can get pregnant. :-( Your best bet is to wait to see the urologist and discuss different alternatives. One of them may be trying to find a donor.
If you are wanting miracle stories, then ours is one. DH diagnosed with azoospermia (no sperm) and no physical reason for that. Did try an IUI with his sample and managed to get pregnant once but lost that baby. The automatic count on that sample still said zero; note on vial from the tech who processed it said there was 1 or 2 swimmers but not good ones. Used donor sperm for 7 more IUI tries and did finally have a successful pregnancy. THEN got pregnant on our own 10 months after the birth of our first child which was a successful pregnancy. The ONLY thing dh did was up his vitamin intake of selenium, zinc, and l-carnitine/l-arginine. A redo of the sperm analysis just before surprise pregnancy listed him as having very low sperm count with very bad morphology. I don't remember his numbers since it didn't matter back then. Docs said we would have to use donor or do IVF for another pregnancy. Well, in our case, I guess it did happen anyway. :) Docs were very surprised (our RE, my OBGYN and his urologist who all had info on the numbers).
My story is one of the best inspiration for you. DH and i found the same results repeatedly twice; there was no sperm at all or there was like 4 immotile sperms; we were devastated shattered and the world looked like a big void for us. we met a urologist and found that my husband's testes are fine; all his reports were normal and there was no blocks either; there could be several reasons for sperm not coming out along with ejaculate; we started taking MFS coast reproductive male fertility medicines; and he stopped alchohol and smoking completely; it helped to reduce the white blood cells in the sperm.
Later we went to an RE; there they collected his sperm and mixed it with a chemical and they did find 20 motile spermsl; which should be good for IVF.
We have no choicethan ICSI IVF. in the case of low sperm and immotile sperm; they cant go for IUI either as the sperm can not poke completely into the egg; it needs a technician.
So dont worry; there are several options; we are half way through with IVF; dont feel bad. there is a way.
My DH was diagnosed azoospermic non obstructive and we were crushed. I research everything I could find on the internet till my eyes felt like they were bleeding. Found one of the best Dr,'s at St Luke's, St Louis MO who has pioneered and perfected treating infertile men. The day of my husbands procedure the doctor discovered that the urologist back home misdiagnosed him and he is actually azoospermic obstructive. Born without the vas. DH is loaded with health sperm just no plumbing to get them out. Do your research and know there are options. There is a lot of unnecessary testing that they suggest for men that can permanently affect their testosterone production. That was something I wasn't comfortable asking him to go through. We chose the lest invasive path. We now have 4 frozen embryos and a transfer date of oct 1. Don't loose hope! There is no easy path but there is one that will be right for you!
