are my hcg levels good enough?

I was wondering if anyone could help me out on here ... I had a positive hcg reading of 153 on 15 dpo and just had my official test at the hospital today (18 dpo) and got 283 ... they didn't know that I'd been to another doc so they were happy with that number, but I feel nervous as it hadn't doubled and it's been 3 days.

Has anyone had this happen and still went on to have a viable pregnancy.  I was so excited before today and now I'm just nervous.

They don't do follow up BT's unless they are worried about the number or if I have spotting.  Should I go back to my doc for another test in a few days??  If anyone could help that would be great .. thanks .. toni

On my first pregnancy I had a heartbeat at 6 weeks 1 day on my second at 6 weeks I didnt but 5 days later I did. Dont be disappointed if you dont because 6-7 weeks is that gray area and doesnt mean anything is wrong. Like I said with beta levels every pregnancy is different. The main thing to remember is that all your numbers look good and there is nothing to suggest you wont have a great pregnancy. Congratulations.

Normal doubling rate is 48-72 hrs. I think yours is around 80 which is still close enough. Not everyones beta increases at the same rate and this doesnt mean there is anything wrong. Time of day when you had each test took can also make a difference(if you had one done in morning and the other in the afternoon).Just try and relax, I am sure evrything is fine. Congratulations.

thanks hon .. I have been getting lots of support and am feeling better .. I love hearing others success stories .. I think I have done too much reading!  I just want to be able to start enjoying this and not worrying .. it doesn't help that I know so so many friends and family who have miscarried .. sometimes you need to just not know these things .. ignorance is bliss and all that.

Good luck with your pregnancy .. it sounds like you're just ahead of me .. it will be good to see how we both go .. I will keep you posted.

congratulations, a little bundle is being formed and will be fine.  my hcg levels are similar to yours and my dr's are well pleased. they don't always double, triple everyone is different, everyone produces hormones at a different rate. with alfie, my 18mth old, my levels were always on the lower side, and he's just perfect!
i'm now 5 weeks pregnant after a first attempt at ivf , alfie was a miraculous conception told i could never have children, never had periods or ovulation, and along he came. my gynacologist said my body just through out a random egg and we had sex at the right time! getting back to your issue, dont fret about the levels, they are rising, i had bleeding a week go and ofcourse was worried, so my dr did another blood test and my levels still rising nicely. unless you have a similar experience that would cause you to have levels checked again, try not to worry and cherish the momemt you will be a mum later in the year!

thanks so much .. I am trying to be positive and your post really helped that.  The clinic today didn't know that I went somewhere else so they don't have anything to compare to.

Since they're not going to test again until the U/S I have booked into the doctor I saw first to have another reading .. this way it will be a week apart from the same place.  I did wonder if there would be a discrepancy between clinics.

thanks for the support!!

Hey first of all congrats on the new pregnancy! I know that your levels didn't double but they don't necessarily have to "double" but close to it (which yours definitely is!) and babies grow at different rates in the beginning--well all the way through the pregnancy-- and if your doctor is not worried about your numbers then there is probably nothing to worry about. Also, since your tests were done at two different labs (taken at two different offices) then there could be a discrepancy of the numbers also. I wouldn't worry too much about it and Congratulations again!
