pregnancy symptoms after transfer

I am 9 days post-transfer via a donor cycle with a 5 day embryo transfer.  Only one embryo was transferred and I don't think I feel any real pregnancy symptoms.  Should I already be feeling any of these?  The only ones I really have are sore breasts and some fatigue.

I have real almost all your posts.....  Glad to find a blog with so many women like me.  Some post have inspired me, some made my heart ache.  I feel every loss I hear about cause I know how much all this takes a toll on our emotions and hopes.

I had my first IVF transfer today (10.25.07).... I am 42 with two children (25, 11) ....my 25 year is pregnant.... they came over to tell us this weekend past.  A lot to take in since we have been on an infertile journey since Jan.

I had 8 follicles.... We've done one IUI but decided to move onto to IVF to improve our chances.  My DH has male factor issues as well.  I was a slow reponder to Follistim/menopur although responded pretty well to Clomid/follistim during IUI cycle.  6 eggs were retrieved but only 5 mature.  hubby's sperm count was low but we used ICSI.  Only 3 eggs fertilized.  On day 3 transfer had 2-grade B and 1-grade C..... each only 3, 4 and 5 cells.  We are thinking our chances are pretty low.... 13% or so according to the doc doing the transfer.  We also did assisted hatching.  Now hanging out on the sofa missing time from work.... got to wait 16 days for Beta.

Depressed about being a grandma :( and not being able to conceive.

Reading your entry was like looking at what I am going through.  I am 8 days post transfer and have absolutely no symptoms.  I, too, am older (43) and this is the second time I use my own eggs.  I really want to do the HPT but don't want to face the possible outcome.  I wish you luck and hope all goes well.  If this does not work for me, I will try once more with my own eggs.  Best wishes.

Hi everybody...
I am getting really depressed because I have no symptoms (except for sore boobs) and it is 7 days after my transfer. My dh made me promise not to take a HPT because he talked to the doc and we were told that it is more likely to be misleading than helpful. So I promised. But meanwhile I am going nuts. I have no cramping, no twinges no pain in the abdomen or anything. I am older (42) so I am getting really hopeless. The weird thing is that everything went right up to now. We have 5 good embryos so we froze 3 and pout back 2. They were good quality and my RE said I was a "good responder." So I was SOOOO hopeful, and now I feel completely like my old self. Shouldn't there be some kind of a change...?????

Hi -

I'm new to the site, but am finding that I should have gotten on here sooner. So much information to take in!!

I have just completed my 2nd cycle of IVF. I am 27 - first cycle worked, but then failed. Very sad day in our lives. This time we used donor egg. Our donor was 22 - she had 20 eggs retrieved, 14 viable, and 11 fertilized. On day 3 we still had 11 growing strong. However - on transfer day (Oct 13) we only had 6 remaining - 2 really good, 4 questionable on whether they could be frozen or not. We transferred 2, and surprisingly enough, had 2 of the 4 remaining that were able to be frozen. I am now 6 days after my transfer, and naturally can't stand the wait. I did a test at home (2 x's) and both have come back +. This is my concern!

NOW TO MY QUESTION/REASON for posting :

We used donor egg - has anyone else used donor egg, and still had to take the ovidrel shot. I'd like to think that I'm not alone here, however - after a ton of posts I've read, I can't figure out why I had to take it. (this being the reason for my concerns on the + home tests...I'm thinking it's still the ovidrel and not a true pregnancy)!

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
CK - NC

I ended up not getting the blood test as scheduled.  It was originally scheduled for 1 day early because I had to leave for a business trip.  Well, then the flight times changed and I would have had to take it 2 days early.  Since my DH was not going with me, we did not want the results until I returned....I was devastated the last time it was BFN.  So, the RE decided to wait until tomorrow.  I am now worried about not having enough symptoms....some nausea but nothing major.  Feels like I am retaining lots of water.  Headaches like crazy (can we say stress?)  and the huge hormone boobs.  Anyone else out there that got a BFP  without a lot of symptoms?  This is our last shot at fertility.....my FSH is elevated and we used a donor.  DH and I have disucussed it and we have enough $$$$ to go through fertility one more time or adopt, so we will turn to adoption.  I am so scared right now.

Hi, I am 36 years old and I had my 2nd IVF cycle on 9/13/07 using 2 blastocytes.  My beta on 9/24 was in the 500 range and on 9/26 was in the 900 range.  The IVF nurse I am on my way and scheduled me for an ultrasound in 3 weeks.  Although I am absolutely thrilled, I cannot help but worry since I don't feel anything, except some cramping especially at night (which I really perceive as a bad sign more than anything.)  Sometimes, I find myself trying to feel nauseated.  I know it's crazy. Does anyone have any advice for me?  I cannot seem to enjoy the happy news because I am alwas worried.  Help!!!

1st time doing this.  I'am 37 years old and  just had a frozen blast transfer 9/26/07 only 2dpt (they are from my first IVF cycle) They transfered 5 blasts said that 1 was hatching 2 getting ready to hatch and 2 that stopped growing but still alive.  Anyone know if this is good?  How soon can I take HPT because they were already 5 days old when transfered?  my blood test is 10/8 and that is just so far away i am already going crazy just after 2 days.

Thank you so much for your prayers.  We are praying for a BFP for you too : )
I wish I had a recommendation for you in your area.  I would recommend them in a second to anyone.  We were truly blessed when we found our Dr.  She does have some helpful links on her website, one of them is www.sart.org.  There is a link to search for a Dr.  I also asked my Dr's office if they could recommend someone.  They do have a contact at a very reputable place out there.  She is going to get me the information...as soon as I have it I will forward it to you. I hope this is of some help to you.  Wish I could do more.  I know how helpful it is to get as much information as possible.  I wish we had more when we started this journey.

Hello. I'm very happy to hear that you got good news at your RE. That's your first step in the right direction.  Without a positive RE, it makes it difficult for us to remain positive and get that positive!  We have to be stress free!  I have been looking for another RE but so far, the one I found is not covered by my insurance.  If anyone in this world has an RE recommendation in the Los Angeles area, please share.

God, please bless IVF cycle #4 with a BFP. In Jesus name - Amen.

Just came back from my follow-up visit with my RE.  She actually said she was kind of surprised it didn't work this time.  She said all my steps were good and that she was happy with everything....except of course that it didn't result in a pregnancy.  My biggest fear was that she was going to tell us that my egg quality was poor.  But she said they look good...nothing abnormal at all.  She is very confident that all we need is just persistance to get a positive result.  I'm actually feeling better knowing that she is so optimistic.  I really needed some good news.  So if all goes well we are going to jump right into another IVF cycle...#4.  I'm so anxious to start again.  I know how it feels to have a Dr tell you so quickly that "it's probably your eggs...you should look into donor eggs"....but honestly I'm SO glad we went to another RE.  She said there is nothing wrong with my eggs.  Our other Dr said the same thing to my girlfriend...she went to our new Dr and got a BFP on her first try here.  So if that's the attitude your Dr is taking I highly advise going to another Dr and getting a fresh opinion.  I'm glad I did...and my friend is proof that it could pay off.  : )

I am also in the two week waiting period. (6 dpt)  This is the 3rd IVF transfer for us (2 cycles - 3 transfers - 0 pos).  The quality of my eggs wasn't great - but we ended up with 3 8-cell embryos for a day-3 transfer.  The waiting is so hard and I am constantly reading everything I can find looking for 'clues'.  I do have a question for everyone out there though.. I was very sore this time after my retrieval.  Since about 3dpt, my stomach has been very bloated and hard.  I actually think it might be caused by over-stimulation of my ovaries as opposed to any sort of pregnancy symptom.  Has anyone else experienced this after their transfer?  My pain is almost gone - and so I don't think it's anything serious.

As of now I don't have a Yahoo IM account....but when I get one up and running I'd love to compare notes.  It's nice to have someone who knows what this is like to talk to.  DH can only understand so much.  I'm actually getting ready to leave work to go to our follow-up appointment.  Wish me luck!  Hopefully we hear something positive.  I hope your laproscopy goes well.  Fingers crossed!  Atlhough I hate that we have to go through all this...I'm so thankful that we even have this option.  I can't imagine going through this 30+ years ago when they would have just said "sorry...no baby for you"  : (

And thanks for answering BabyGermy!  Yes...there are alot of things you pick up along the way through his journey...and one of them is all sorts of abbreviations for things..Like AF (aka Aunt Flo....aka your period).  I think that's my leaast favorite of them all....she never brings with her good news.

I was surfing the net and found this site.  I am 11 days post frozen donor transfer.  We went to donor route after a failed IUI.  I am now trying to hold off doing the HPT.  Every minute my emotions change--my boobs are huge and sore but am on estradiol and progesterone, my stomach feels full and, I know this sounds funny, but I am feeling hot which is unusual for me.  But then I get these strange twinges...not normal PMS cramps.  So, any good thoughts are appreciated (blood test on Weds).
