So excited for you! It gives me hope as well :) We are fortunate enough that in Illinois fertility coverage is required so we can pursue either. Being 41 is my biggest concern to holding onto the pregnancy. Since IVF is more invasive and disruptive than IUI is why I am wondering if we should try IUI again, especially since I got pregnant on the first and third attempts with IUI. Is there any particular reason you think you have been able to hold your current pregnancy? Did you do something different in terms of diet, meds, accupuncture? I'm feeling confident that I don't have fertility issues to get pregnant, but holding the pregnancy to term is really of concern. Thank you for your comments here. Wishing you all the best!
Sorry it was negative. :( I have had several m/c's as well, and my RE told me that he did not recommend IVF for me because it helps with the getting pregnant part but it does not help with holding onto the pregnancy. If the main problem is holding onto a pregnancy, he said IVF would not really provide a benefit so would not be worth the extra cost. I had no insurance coverage for IVF, though, so maybe his advice would have been different if cost was not a factor. Every case is different too since we all have slightly different medical histories, so I would recommend scheduling a sit-down appt with your doctor to discuss the pros and cons of IUI vs IVF.
I did IUI and am now 10 wks pregnant, after 3 miscarriages, so it can happen! Best of luck to you!
We went and did the blood test and sure enough it was negative. I thought it might have been implantation bleeding but then it got heavier and felt more like a period. Meeting with the doc this week to decide on next steps. This was our first try but I am wondering if I would do better to just keep trying IUI.
Did you go into the doctor's anyway? Are you sure it wasn't implantation bleeding? Because if you're on progesterone, you shouldn't get a period until after you stop that ...
