I had two laps, each one done by a different dr. The first lap was done by the first R.e i went too .He told me i had sever endo and he said he had cleaned most of it out. He also mentioned one of my tubes was dead. He didn't feel it was necessary to remove the tube.
I went through a fresh ivf, two fet and 1 iui with him, i never had any sucess, we weren't very happy at that clinic and decided to move to a different one. The r.e we are with now did different tests on me and found that the endo had grow back. He also said they thought i had hydrosalphix in my left tube, he referred me to a gyno that specializes in endo surgery . I had the surgery the end of aug, he cleaned out quite a few cysts and removed my left tube, because it had been diseased with the endo. He said if i was to ever get pregnant i probably wouldn't be able to carry the baby because of the tube. It was leaking so much, it would affect the babies growth. After i did the surgery and was ready to go back to the r.e, i did a iui and got a positive. Yes my numbers are very low, but it's the furthest i have gotten in almost 3 1/2 years. I really believe i got the positive because the dr removed the tube. When i asked the gyno why he thought the r.e didn't remove the tube, he said maybe it's because he didn't have as much experience as him.
I agree with the ladies it is your own personal choice but..... i would go for the surgery. i wish you all of the luck in the world. You have been through so much and deserve a very happy ending(((HUG)))
I would wait for the 2 months and then, when you are feeling better and have done more research, I would make the decision.
About the OBGYN and the RE doing the lap, here is my story, my regular OBGYN doesn't want to do the lap on me, he says that it is not his expertise to clean the endo and to do an exploratoy it would probably be a waist of time cz we are already 90% convinced that I have endo, so he gave me a referral to another OBGYN with that expertise, soooo what I am saying with this, is that maybe your OBGYN wasn't able to clean the endo cz he just doesn't have the expertise, but maybe it will be helpfull if your RE or another doc with the expertise does it.
Just give it a little time, ask questions and I know you will be able to make the right choice...Good luck!!
Thanks helen.. yea i have severe endo.. but last time (a different doctor) couldn't really clean any of it up, since it was all on my bowels and bladder.. my RE feels that he could clean it up more than my obgyn did.. but i'm just not convinced i dont' think.. humm
Hmmm, a lap can improve your chances so I would try the lap before another try but if you think the endo is not severe the lap may not be very useful. It's a tough choice!
