Hey Jen!
Your RE sound FANTASTIC!!!!
he said all the thing that my new RE said (including the PGD thing)!
She is not Israeli but she have a lot of ties with Israeli dr and she speaks Hebrew ;-)
I was on the same protocol as you are with my last IVF cycle and it was a "good cycle"(ended in chemical pregnancy but nice embryos transferred and had something to freeze too).
I think you are on the right track now!
krista:so sorry..it happened to me already 2 times...it made me soooooooo mad!
Good morning...
Jen, I wish you the best of luck with your new protocol...Question, what is his success rate?
Krista - I do that ALL the time...LOL...your not stupid...
Ladies...have a great day!
OMG I am soooo mad right now!!!
I just wrote the longest post, with a big ol' holler out to all my AGP girls...I wasn't logged in and it didn't post!!!
AAAAAARRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Now I have to go to work...
Suffice it to say I am thinking of all of you (preggos, AGP oldies and newbies)!
Will try again later...
I am so stupid stupid stupid sometimes. :-@
Krista
Thank you all so much for that very WARM welcome!! This is the type of excitement I need to keep me going through this craziness!
Okay, here's the deal...
My new RE is super aggressive and even a little shysty (sp?); he's Israeli (like my dad), which in my mind translates into he knows how to be shady on the sly. Basically, he looked through all of my records from the last RE and told me straight up I had LESS than a 1% chance of getting pg with those embryos. Apparently, the embies looked really bad (grades B and C) and were way behind schedule in terms of their growth. The new RE said that I was on the right meds, but not enough of them and I wasn't on any LH med so that was part of the reason why my follies were slow to grow. New RE says after taking Lupron, we should be on some LH stimulating med (like Menopur) to make up for the suppression period. Makes sense! Also, new RE says PGD is a WASTE of money! His argument: what about the 30-some odd other chromosomes that don't get tested - even with the largest panel (12 chroms), there are still lots that cannot be tested. And, it puts the embies at an increased risk for other probs. Anyway, after about 5 minutes with this new Israeli studmuffin, I was smitten - and loved his aggressiveness (not like my other wimpy and conservative doc).
If you remember from my last cycle, 8 of the embies fertilized but only 2 came back "normal" after PGD. Turns out I only had one trisomy (an extra chrom 22) and the rest were monosomy (meaning the were missing one chrom). New RE says he would have transferred at least one of the monosomys; despite the fact that it was missing a chrom, new RE says that it happens alot because the embies are tested so early in the game that some of them will develop the other chrom the day after or so. The trisomys are dangerous and can cause birth defects, but if the monosomys don't fully develop they will eventually abort themselves. There's no harm in trying with them! Basically, he was full of great info that my old doc never bothered to explain.
I think my protocol is called a flare protocol? I started Lupron approx 7 days BEFORE AF (last Friday). AF should show any day now and I go back next Thurs to start stims (the 31st). I will be taking Follistim and Menopur (and baby asprin and prenatals). Retreival will be around the 10th and the transfer will be 4 days after (he doesn't like to wait the whole 5 for some reason). Sally, we actually are doing PGD again, but only the 5 chrom panel, which is the most common probs (e.g. Downs, Turners, Kleinfelters, etc.). Since i've m/c in the past, he said it would be fine (and DH was really pushing). Despite the fact that we realize so many chromosomes go untested, we feel just a tad better checking for the most devastating of the problems.
Okay, so thats all of the details! I'm going into it cautiously optimistic, which im pretty sure is normal. The BFN last time was pretty devastating so i naturally expect the worst now. I'm so glad to have all of you for support during this time.
Glad to see all is same ole same ole with all of you!
