Accuracy of blood tests for early pregnancy detection

I am so stressed: my husband and I have been trying for a baby for 15 months without any luck. We have undergone 3 IUI's. (The first IUI was apparently succesful but it seems I had a very early (day 10) miscarriage). We treid naturally in Nov. Since my last period I was feeling unusually tired and just "odd" I origanlly thought I may be aneamic and went to see my doc. We did a range of bllod tests (not aneamic!). She also did a blood pregnancy test which cme out as negative 3 weeks after my last menstrual cycle. However, I have not menstruatated since and my period is about 1 week late!! This hardly ever happnes as my cycle is quite regualr within a day or 2. I have been a bit nauseas, stomach cramps and general stomach weirdness (which i thought may be a stomach bug), a bit dizzy on and off and slightly emotional but otherwise okay. I am not sure if I should try a home pregancy test or if my symptoms can be put down to STRESS!! I really do not want to try again only to be dissapointed if the pregnancy test is negative. How long should I wait before I test? Or should I assume my stress levels are so hight that they have interfered with my menstrual cycle? Going nuts!

WOW!! Thank you everyone for the comments!!

I am so overwhelmed. I took a home pg test last night-well, 3 actaully, and all are positve!! It seems I am pregnant after all!!! I don't really know how I feel at the moment!!
After 15 unsuccessful months, a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, 3 IUI's male sperm dysmorphia and everyone telling me I am too old to have a baby, I am pregnant naturally!! It seems to unbelieveable!! But I doubt 3 tests are wrong. Going to see doc tomorrow and then, well, I can't even think any further.

Best of luck to all who are still trying! I know it sounds glib, but it seems to happen when it's meant to and bugger it, not before!!

I would do a pregnancy test for sure! If you blood test was done only three weeks after the first day of your last menstrual period, it could def. have been too early. Best of luck, and let us know how it goes!
