Advice from experienced

I need advice from the experienced here. I lost my baby at 13 weeks. My doctor induced and delivered me and I requested complete testing of the baby/placenta for answers. I have some information on the anatomy such as my placenta only had two vessels instead of three and the baby's ear were low set. When it comes to ge...netic/chromosone tests the lab messed up and exposed the baby to a liquid which made it impossible to proceed with other tests. My doctor broke the news to me a few days ago and said the lab changed policies to keep it from happening again..ugh.. What's your insight, did your sweet babies or placenta have these signs? If so what was the definitive diagnosis?

Thanks for the reply. My doctor just said without the other tests she can't only guess that it was a form of Down's Synd..I will ask about blood tests for me. This is my third loss. The first two were early like 5-6 weeks, so they need to check me out. I do appreciate the information.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Unfortunately, I don't think many women on here have had the same detailed tests you did. Most of us (me included) had what would be considered early miscarriages (before 12 weeks), so that might be part of the reason. Also, most insurance companies won't cover testing until a woman has had three early losses or more. So, in case you don't get many replies, that might be the reason. As for the lab, I can't believe they made that mistake! That's just wrong. If I were you, though, I would ask your doctor a few more questions...like could the fact that the placenta only had two vessels cause this? What does the low-set ears mean? If there are no definitive answers, or if you doctor says neither is a clear reason for a miscarriage, I would probably ask for some tests for you. Especially since you had your loss in the second trimester (most genetic/chromosomal issues cause early, first-trimester losses). Maybe test for blood clotting problems (I have that....Factor V), and any other tests your doctor feel would be helpful. Best of luck with everything. I hope you get pregnant again soon and carry to term next time.
