I just started my follistim again yesterday and I go in again after 5 days on it. Last time I had a lot of follies but most were smalll....they increased my dose and I got 6 mature follies. I"m not sure why your doctor hasn't increased your dose...hopefully things work out.
I was a low responder on my 1st IVF try in August my dosage was 125 units..Now Im on my second IVF try and my dosage is 400 units a day..Its probably still early but im a little surprised he didnt up your dosage a little..
I had my 2nd u/s today to check my progress with the follistim. I have 2 follies, one at 18, one at 20 so they went ahead and did my trigger shot. I go in for my iui tomorrow morning. Last cycle we did not use any meds as our issues are with DH having no sperm count and i checked out fine. Since we are using a donor, RE put me on the meds as an extra boost to hopefully make things work this time. I'm praying it works this time.
I'm on Lupron to keep from ovualting and the stims will keep my follies growing. I continue to take the stims until they have my follies where they want them.
Today is cd21 because prior to starting the follistim the RE put me on estrogen to thicken my lining and it acted like a birth control pill and complete stunted my norman folli development. So on cd16 when I still didn't have any follie growth, that was when I started the follistim.
Good luck to you also. Keep us posted on your progress.
I had a u/s this morning after starting 75 units of follistim last Friday (5 days) and didn't respond as well as my RE hoped. She has upped me to 150 units starting tonight with another u/s on Friday so we'll see how that goes. I am surprised that your RE did not up your dose as well but it is still early yet. What CD day are you on? Today is CD8 for me. Keep us posted on what happens. I'm praying for you.
Did your dr say whether the other follies would catch up or if there is one dominant folli do the other's stop? I ask that because on a natural cycle, once there is a dominant follie it is usually the only one to keep growing. I only have one fallopian tube and have been ovulating off of the opposite side for the last three months in a row. I'm hoping with the follistim, I will get something going on my good side. During todays u/s there was one follie on each side, but the one on my bad side was bigger. I was concerned since it was bigger it would dominate and the other might not grow any bigger. This is my first follistim cycle, so I really don't know how it all works.
Wishing the best for your IVF cycle.
They didn't increase my dosage at all. This is a frustrating cycle for me. I usually ovulate around cd14 and because my RE has been giving me estrogen to increasing my uterine lining it has also stunted my folli growth. So that is when he put me on the follistim. He seemed a little shock that more hadn't happened at todays u/s. So that made me wonder if it wasn't working like it was supposed to. Thanks for the encouragement. My next u/s isn't until monday. Hopefully we'll see more then. Good luck to you also!!
I don't use follitism but I use bravelle and menopur. I just had my 4 day US today and she saw one 14mm follie and many smaller ones trailing behind. All my follies have to be 14mm to proceed with IVF retrieval.
When I was on follistim, (3 cycles now) I always started off slowly and follicle growth wasn't much after 4-5 days. However, at that point the follistim dosage was increased and I started to respond to it, so that by ten or eleven I was good to go. It is still early for you! Try not to worry! I know it's so disappointing when you expect so much! Did your follistim dosage increase any? Was your estrogen level good? I hope this helps!
Best of luck to you!
