Can clomid still work if you dont have a period first?

I was given provera 10g for 10 days and it has been 22 days since my last pill and still no signs of a period. So, I went ahead and started clomid anyways. Is there still a good chance that it will work for me? I was told that it still could work without a period, is that true? Thank you.

I think the only reason why they want you to have a period is to start fresh and make sure that you are not pregnant.  because it's a no no to take clomid while pregnant.  sometimes exercise like sit ups and walking/running helps me get my period.. I am not sure why but maybe it's just me.. when my period starts gettng late and I am supposed to expect it.. I exercise more and it comes... mind you I never exercise at all unless i want my period to show up .. again maybe it's just me and how my body works..

so even without period I think it should work because clomid works by tricking your glands( I think pituitary gland but not sure) to produce hormones needed in egg production, release and ovulation.  It's like forced production of needed hormones so your body will think that it's time of the month to get busy...

I hope that helps :0) and I hope clomid works for you.... It worked for me the last minute and last chance LOL

Jen I started clomid without a period as my doctor prescribed and he said just to start taking the clomid any time and count your first pill as day 5. With the opks I got a surge on CD14. So it can work. I am not preggers yet but still hoping......

Per WebMD:  "For the treatment of stopped menstrual periods (amenorrhea) and abnormal bleeding from the uterus, take this drug usually once daily for 5-10 days during the second half of the planned menstrual cycle or as directed by your doctor. Withdrawal bleeding usually occurs within 3-7 days after you stop taking the medication.
Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens."

I used to search on WebMD when I was taking provera. I think there was a way to view how provera affected other women by what they posted.

I don't know if having af or not affects how Clomid works.  I would call your doctor to see about why af didn't start after provera.  I took provera and the first time it took awhile before af showed up.  Calling my doctor put my mind at ease.
