DHEA Levels and pills

The Dr. had me take a test for my DHEA level which came back at 58.  I do not know exactly what the DHEA level is and I won't be able to talk to my dr. until tomorrow night.  They mentioned 58 was on the low side, so they want me to take DHEA pills.  Has anyone taken these pills before? Did you get your levels checked?  Is this a new thing fertilty clinics are testing for?  I read the side effects and it kind of scares me.

I talked to my dr. and he told me  to take DHEA if my bloodwork came in at a certain #.  Well it did and the dr."s office called freedom pharm. and ordered the medicine.  I actually had to pay full price for it.  So, when the dr. called me he told me he thought it wasn't a good idea for me to take the medicine.  This *****.

Still waiting for my dr. to call.  I have so many questions and I hope he calls soon.  I am kinda upset that he only makes telephone appointments after 10pm.  I would love to get some sleep, but I have to stay up for his call.  Sorry just venting.

I am really nervous anout taking this drug.  I guess I will see how it makes me feel in a couple of months when I start taking it.  My dr. told me take 1 pill 3x a day for 3 months.  I tryed to ask the ivf nurses more about it and they did not know what DHEA was and for me to make a telephone appointment to ask the dr.  He is supposed to call me after 10pm tonight.

Congratulations! That is wonderful and the fact it was natural is even better.
I know I've asked you before but what amount of DHEA were you on?
I was on 75 but I grew a few hairs on my chin(is that not SO disgusting??) which my dr attributed to DHEA so he said to take 50.  I didn't lose hair on my head, though...

i felt better otherwise though, besides the hair. like i was perkier in my personality. i think they describe it as a fountain of youth - for men and women.

it's too soon to celebrate but i actually just got preg - while not even trying - it's my first natural preg and my first BFP since feb 2009. i think it was the dhea.

more needs to be studied for sure.

my hair seems to be falling out a lot more lately too. I didn't know what it was but i guess it's the DHEA? ugh! another ridiculous side effect that we women struggling with infertility have to deal with. Can it BE any worse?

It looks like the study is still going on.  I am reading in different websites it helps and doesn't help.  I wish there were more studies done on it.

google "the center for human repro in NY" they are now using DHEA to boost follicles counts in older women before IVF. they is a link to a study they initiated.

i took it from july to november. my AMH and FSH numbers got better. and my only side effect was that more hair came out when i washed it. nothing noticeable.
