Do I have pcos???????

Ok so I went to my doc today to get an ultrasound to see if ovulation is coming or not. I am on clomid and right now on CD15. I haven't had a +opk yet this month so I wanted the ultrasound to see if I would just be O later in my cycle. My hubby was going to go out of town for the weekend but now is going to stay home because the ultrasound showed one dominant follie measuring 15.5mm in the left ovary. She also saw other non dominent eggs on the left side that looked like they were cysts by the size of them they measured around 4.5mm. She suspects pcos. Do you think I will ovulate in the next few days with a follie sizing 15.5. Also does it sound like I could have pcos. I have not had any bloodwork yet to confirm it but I have all the symtoms by not getting a period and not ovulating on my own.

15.5 is a good size and it should grow to produce an egg any day now.  Once follicles make it to 14 mm, they are very likely to go on and ovulate.

My last IUI I had three follies ready, two on my right and one on my left.  I can't recall the exact sizes now.  Since the one on the left became a cyst, we know one of the follies on the rt that made the trip!

Again, good luck!

Thank you so much for your post I appreciate it. It makes sense that I have pcos but now I'm just confused if the one large follie I had wasn't a dominant follie that is going to burst but rather it could have been a huge cyst. I really hope it was the follie that is going to release an egg and I could have a chance to concieve this month. If not I go to see a RE and I'm sure they will get the ball rolling............Congrats on your PG..

I have PCOS but my bloodwork never confirmed it but my u/s did.  I also had excessive facial and stomach area hair growth and I was not ov at all until the help of hormonal drugs.  PCOS can also make it tougher to loss weight once you have gained it plus you tend to gain weight faster or something like that.

I never took glucophage to help treat PCOS.  The medical community is basically divided on if it works or not.  My friend took it and within 3 months she was pg and she lost weight in the process without really trying but another friend took it and the side effects were just aweful, so she stopped.

I went through 3 rounds of IUI. the first try was halted b/c clomid was actually making my 2 lt ovarian cysts grow and I had to go back on bcp for a month to help shrink the cysts.  My 3rd try was successful and im now 15wks pg.  I also had a cyst with the last IUI and it grew right along witht the pg and the MD said it was actually giving good hormones to the little bean.  Its gone now.

And actually with the clomid, bravelle and trigger shot, I felt so balanced for the first time in about a year.  I think my body needed those hormones to function properly since I don't think I was getting them before b/c of PCOS.

So, hang in there. PCOS is not fun but it shouldn't stop you from ttc.  My friend who took glucophage went on to have 3 very healthy babies.  My other friend is still in the process of ttc.

Good luck!!!!
