Does longterm use of ****** cause a problem with you cm?

Does anyone know if long term use of douching can affect your cm?  I started douching since I was 21yrs old and would ****** frequently to keep me fresh and clean.  About 3 years ago, I started to notice that I stopped getting the egg-white cm and about 15mths ago, I stopped douching completely because I badly wanted to have a baby.  Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck yet and I'm currently on my 2nd cycle of clomid which I also know that this medication doesn't help with our cm.  I'm just worried that my long term of douching has made my cm hostile to sperm and acidic and could be one of the reason why I'm not getting pregnant.

Thank you for your comments.  I'm not really too happy with the information from "Taking Charge of your Fertility" book but it is what it is.  I just hope and pray to God that those effects of douching is just temporary like what Heather5 said.  Thank you again.

I think the negative effects of douching are just temporary, so as long as you're not using them now, you should be fine (unless, of course it caused some form of infection, like brookly_gal mentioned).

Clomid does dry up cervical mucus in about 1/3 of patients, though (including me), so that could definitely have something to do with it. If you're worried about it, you could always try pre-seed, which is a sperm-friendly lubricant.

Best of luck this month!

According to "Taking Charge of your fertility " book,

".... douching alters the normal acidity of the vaginal and is not necessary for most women.  It adversely changes the normal pH balance and can ironically lead to vaginal infections and pelvic inflammatory diseases (PID).  It can also alter the vaginal environment to such an extent that sperm can't survive.  It may cause inflammations or allergic reactions that can kill sperm or impact sperm survival.  And finally it may wash away the very cervical fluid that sperm need to get through the cervix to the egg..."
