what are suppositories, and is it the other med you can alternate with ..just asking..lol
If they have you on progesterone shots, those hurt most of the time, they can also leave lumps, they go into the muscle.
Most of the other ones didn't hurt.
Just remember it will all be worth it in the end, that's what I keep telling myself, I've got two more weeks of the progesterone shots, they gave me the option to switch to the suppositories, but based on what I've read on here, I decided to suffer another two weeks of injections.
am 31yrs old,,,and i've read that chances are higher below 35years...so fingures crossed...lol
thanx alot for the advice,as much as it is difficult to stay calm,am going to try to relax,am so anxious...the part that worries me is the shots, some say there nt painful, some say they are painful, geez my head is buzzing,i just pray when the time comes,i just stay calm, and its a walk in the park for me..the emotional drain....thanx again for the advice, and wish you all the best...baby dust!!!
Its hard not to read the m/c stories, but better for your mental state not to. I know this morning I was very stressed about things, as we went in for our first ultrasound, thankfully everything was good.
I don't think anyone can say how many tries it might take, its the hardest and scariest part of it all. It could work the first try or it could take more tries. One thing to remember is quality over quantity- ask your doctor what they expect and are looking for number's wise on eggs. Mine told me 8 to 12 eggs. I've read others getting lots more, but only having a few fertilize and make to the transfer day, with nothing left to freeze. I was surprised to read that something like 30% end up having embryos left to freeze. Until our last attempt, we never did, and then it was only 1.
I know lots of people who had little pain with the retrieval, I was a bit surprised I was sore for as long as I was after the first. When I mentioned it to my doctor, she told me they were pretty aggressive with the retrieval.
I'm starting to think, that my left ovary is the issue, when ever they need to see it on the ultrasound, I tend to have to push down on that area, or raise up my hips.
Try to find ways to relax, and de-stress, if you know something is going to cause you to worry more than normal, avoid it. Its hard, but you can do this, and trying to stay positive helps. With this final cycle, we had small goals we focused on, getting to retrieval, then having them fertilize, then waiting to see if it would be a day 3 or day 5 transfer. Once I found out day 5 transfer, I started praying we would have 1 good one to transfer. This time, I did not use an hpt. I knew with failed ivf #2, and sat crying in the office the day of my beta, and refused to go thru that again. I found focusing on the small goals helped a lot, and relieved a bit of the stress.
thanx for the info,i have heard it some where before that egg retrieval is painful, and some say its not,so i just have to brace myself for one emotional and painful journey, and me and my hubby are going to pay out of our pockets,so you think that would have to be like 2-may be 5 cycles to get there, shouldn't get my hopes up,am really worried now,if theres pain involved, let alone the 2ww that everyone says is the most difficult, and i've read many mc stories, usually at 8weeks,so the more eggs retrieved the higher the chance of a prgnancy...am worried now more than ever..
If you are having to pay out of pocket for everything, you may want to check out fertility lifelines.
They offer help with meds for one cycle only, if your doctor has you using gonal-f. We used this for our first cycle, it saved us a lot of money, several thousand dollars to be exact. They send the meds directly to your doctor.
It took us 3 tries, of ivf w/icsi. The first time thru is always a bit of a mystery, more like a trial to see how you will respond. They tend to do more blood work and ultrasounds to check on things.
My RE uses a few different types of protocols, short cycle, long cycle, and third that is a combination of the two (this is what finally worked for us).
Depending on the type of cycle, you can end up with anywhere from 1 to 4 injections a day.
The retrieval of the eggs, can be painful afterwards- my first and third cycle were painful- they were pretty aggressive both times collecting all that was there. The second cycle was less painful- only had 4 eggs retrieved.
The transfer back is similar to having an annual exam done. They also have you take some meds to support things. I was on estrace twice a day and progestrone shots at night (these will hurt). Then the long wait begins for your pregnancy test.
I often felt like I was losing my mind, and the hormones can do a number on you emotional.
If you have any specific questions just ask. Just try to remember quality is better than quantity sometimes. I always felt discouraged when I saw others getting bigger numbers than me, my RE was looking for 8 to 12 eggs.
