YAY! I'm so happy for you that everything is coming along! Keep us posted!
I had the same experience as Helen.
At 5w1 day we saw only the gestation sac.At 6w1 day we saw the yolk fetal pole and h/b 8which my RE said it was very early to see).
I think you are on the right track!
Time to celebrate!
Hannah - it's terrible to wonder about what dr's say. I think Tina's right & that you're okay. And it could be that he said 'yolk'. Anyway, CONGRATS on the pregnancy -I think your re's congratulations means the most of everything. I don't believe he'd be saying that if it weren't true - try to relax, hon.
They did not tell me the rate till I was about 8 weeks along.
What was the hb at 6w1d? Did they tell you the rate?
Tankerchic - Congrats! Be happy, docs almost never say congrats if they have any hesitation. You could always call back to ask the questions you didn't while you were there. They are used to that. When is your next u/s scheduled?
I've been thinking about the ill-defined sac comment the dr made and after thinking more about it, I really think he probably said ill-defined yolk sac. I say this because the gestation sac was there plain as day, there was nothing ill-defined about it and the yolk sac and fetal pole develop a little later, so I really think he said yolk sac.Until I started looking into it more, I didn't realize the yolk was also a sac.
My first u/s was at 5w 4d and we did not see a yolk sack, just a gestational sack. Then at 6w 1d we saw the h/b! I think it's a very early u/s and embryos develop sooo fast at this stage. Just a few days can make a huge difference.
I am glad it's not an ectopic and things are progressing so well. I hope you will see everything you dream of on your next u/s!!!
Oh man, the link to the web page disappeared. Why do they do that!!!
MEN! I'm with the others. He would not have said Congrats, things look good :) I'm so thrilled for you!! I had a tech say "so, you have your next appt scheduled, right?" yeah, that freaked me out. I had her cornered "WHY?" is there something wrong?? ha ha, we all read between the lines, above the lines and below the lines. I'm glad everything looks good. Can't wait to see a HB!
yeah thanks everyone.. I'm feeling much better about it... i've been reading the page that I linked above and it says there should be a fetal pole by the time the sac is 15 to 16 mm... mine is only 5.7 mm.... I thought the dr said 5wk2d, but the ultrasound says 5wk1d....
I think everything is good. :) I'm ready to celebrate!!
Yeah I hate that he used that word but I don't think it meant anything that bad, because he didn't go into any kind of a 'well lets wait and see' speech. I found this web page, it has some good information on early pg and u/s.. you might find it interesting. It also says yolk and fetal pole aren't usually visible till 5.5wks. So I think I'm okay..
Hey,I'm sure all is going to be fine! Congratulations on this pregnancy,I was pg too when you were with your ds and I'm so glad to see you made it again!Happy healthy nine months and maybe a cute little girl this time?? I wish I could do it once again right now,but it's easier said than done!
Oh I think that early it is normal not to see anything. I doubt he would have told you that everything was looking good if it wasn't!!! Remember in the 1st trimester you can measure up to 5-7 days behind and all be ok! It sounds like you had a late implanter...you're just going to have a mellow little bean who does things on *her* own time :-)
Oh good heavens! Why would he say something like that?!? I just think it means not extremely clear yet. I know on my 8 or 10wk u/s they said "well defined" the sac was very visable and clear. They didn't mention anything on the prior one and you really couldn't make out the whole outline.
I hate what they put us through! He didn't say "ill-shaped" or "ill-formed" he said "ill-defined". To me that just means clarity :)
