Thanks everyone. I had about 8 follicles that just stopped growing. I had a business trip Weds and I flew to Chicago. I probably should have stayed put. And my belly is full of black & blue marks. None of this happened on Menopur. Appreciate the support. XOX
So sorry to hear the bad news, hoping that they can find the best treatment for you and it succeeds next time.
Hugs...
I am so sorry! Hang in. there..let us know what the RE says..
Oh no....I want to cry for you. :( :( :( :( :( :( I am so sorry! It is so frustrating when your body doesn't do what I want it to. I hope you get some answers and maybe good new ideas from your RE. I do think things can change very rapidly though. I am sure your RE knows what he is doing but I have not heard of being on low dose HCG or was that just for the trigger?? The lupron just suppresses your pituitary so that you can grow more than one dominant follie at a time. The menopur is FSH+LH and the Follistim is FSH. I am wondering if they didn't up the Follistim dose enough but I am new to this so I really have no idea - just trying to throw thoughts out there. I have heard of the Lupron causing problems though and having to go to a microflare protocol.
My medinine is not bad - $200-300 per cycle in copays. I am trying not to think the worst. But I am running into issues before the 2ww which is a whole new chapter for me.
I hope you have medical insurance because for all these meds used it sure is alot of money. I can't believe this happened to you again. I am so sorry & am sure your stress/frustration is high but I know when they get it right it will surely get you pregnant!! Hang in there.......
When I did stims for my IVF, I was on Lupron and Follistim and Menopur. Lupron is supposed to supress your cycle so that you don't ovulate on your own until your follicles are ready to be retrieved. It is not a stimulant and will not make your follicles grow. Follistim is pure FSH and Menopur is a combo of FSH and LH hormones. That's all that I know... Good luck! :)
I am so sorry and devastate for you. Since your body did not respond to this protocol your RE will probably change your meds. Sometimes changing Lupron dosages and stims can get a very different response.
I hope next try works better!
((HUGS))
Estrogen dropped from 174 to 80. Cycle cancelled. Nurse left me a VM so I do not know what the Dr is thinking. Whether this is a glitch or if this means my body is changing :(
Hang in there...see what the next few days brings..maybe they will change up the meds and you will have longer protocal..i had 10 follies but only 3 were mature..higher meds for longer might have helped..Try to stay calm and lots of luck!
I am a slow responder. My case is different, but I thought I'd share it to give you some support.
This cycle, starting in March, I got 450IU of FSH+LH shots and hcg 200IU every other day. My follicles reached a good size after 16 days of shots, and at one point it did seem as if they just weren't growing. But then they were so many and of good size that my IUI was changed into IVF and now I am 3dp3dt. I had 6 eggs retrieved of which 4 fertilised into grade a embryos, 3 were transfered. So the end result was fine.
My doc says each woman is different and each cycle is different - for some women it is better to start with a low dose and give the treatment for longer, letting the eggs grow over a longer period and for others its better to give a high dose and get follies to mature sooner. Even a cycle can be different.
So i'd advise you to relax and not fret about your response. The important thing is for the docs to monitor you and tweak the treatment accordingly. You'll get there hun!!
Hugs and SSBD,
Sam
I was on follistim this past cycle for IUI. it was my first time doing injectables. I had the same issue as you. Lots of follies but they were all measuring at a 6. Dr told me it is rare but there are a few women that don't respond to Follistim because their FSH is not compatible. Menapur however is made up of all different kinds of FSH (in fact it's contrived from the FSH of menapausal nuns - this is what my dr told me) therefore it works on people like me who don't respond to Follistim. I'm not sure what Lupron is but maybe it has the same FSH as Follistim and you are in a similiar situation as me with the follistim?? I was switched to Menapur mid cycle and I got 2 nice sized follies - maybe had i been on it from the start i would have gotten a lot more. I did clomid for my first IUI and got 4 nice size follies (but got lots of bad side effects - thin lining, cysts) so dr says it seems that i do better working with my own FSH. If this IUI doesn't work (i'm currently 10 days past IUI), dr said we should try clomid mixed with menopur next time. Anyway - ask you dr what he thinks and good luck!!!
