High dose of Gonal-f

Hi, I haven't stated it yet because i can't afford 900iu for 10-12 days. Is this high? I went on the web site for the med and they say 300 per day recommended. I know im 43 but all my levels are normal. any one have an idea?

I just mean for this cycle and with the pens that We have just used and only if we rune low or out ! So sorry I should have said that !

If the Gonel-F pens are open over 28 days, the medicine is NOT guarentted to work.  So saving the pens is probably not really going to do anything if medicine is bad.
I called the # for Gonel-F yesterday & they told me not to use it.

Hey laddies ! Just a little 411 about the gonal-f pen when you have given the last of the shot from the pen look at it for example the 300 iu pen has 415ius in it  I found you can use a regular needle and get 100ius from the pen after the pen will not go any more so I am saving all the pens in the frig and I will use them that way useing a reg needle if I run out !

Hello. I was on Follistim and Menopur and I know how expensive these can be. I purchased my meds from two different websites from women who had done IVF and no longer needed their meds. They were 1/3 of the price. For example I purchased 3 900 ui vials of Follistim which costs 750 each from a pharmacy for 175 each! I got my menopur for 100 for 5 vials when the pharmacy wanted 64 a vial. My RE said he also likes to start you out high.  He said it is easier to slow things down if they are growing too fast than to get them moving if they start too slow.  Best of luck!

I am 38.  It's amazing how things change with our body which effects the meds we get.  My first IVf i was on 225 Gonel-F like you.  Here we are 5 months later & am taking 450.  One can never know what our next protocol will be.  We are all nervous & praying that this works no matter what dosage.  Quality not Quantity!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so glad you got the right dose I did think that was realy high ; that is why a ???? Every thing and then what we are paying  they best answer LOL ! Well I saw my RE yesterday and he put me on 225 ius of gonal-f in the am 225ius of follostim in the pm and micro dose of 5ius on lupron in the pm ! Can you say human pin cushion LOL!

Good luck, I will be starting my first IVF I think on Sunday, I will be starting out the first time at 450 iu of gonal-F and Microdose of Lupron, I am going to be 44 next month and I'm hoping  I have EGGS. My RE says my hormone levels are all normal so I'm crossing my fingers for you and me!  my great grandmother had my grandmother at 45 and her brother at 47, and my mom had my baby brother at 39. I hope i got some of those genes.

Hi Ladies,  
I just started my drugs today for IVF #2.  I am taking 450 Gonel-f & 2 menopur.  I am just devasted that it is so high.  I am not sure what happened since my frist IVF in NoV.  At that time I was taking 225-300 Gonel-F.  I hope I will still be able to get some good eggs.

i got up to 450iU per day + 150 iU of menopur and i'm 35 with all normal levels
resulted in 8 eggs (only 3 mature) and 3 embryos,

Well turns out the nurse was a temp and made a mistake, I will be taking 450iu per day not 900...Thank G-D, so we will be able to afford it after all, My RE doesn't know why the nurse didn't call her to check to see if there was a mistake.

is this your first cycle with ivf?   You can question your dr.  but you also have to trust him.  Ivf is a very stressfull thing to do and you also have to realize that during the cycle your meds may change or decrease.  If you don't trust your dr. advise that you should find a new dr before you start or order you meds.   I 'm not trying to be rude but you and your future baby are in this dr hands.  I was on well over 500 units per day.  I dont remember the exact dose, but i was on gonal f like 500 plus munopur 4 vials.  and at one point i think i was on gonal f 300 or 400 twice a day.  I"m only 26

Hey there ! So sorry to hear that the cost of meds might stop you from you starting your cycle ! {{[{HUGS}}}  Well there are a few things you can do ! One is there is a discount coupon from the gonal-f web site ! Second isask your RE if there is any donated meds that they can help you with ! I do have a ??? for you ! What was your FSH when they did it on day3 of your cycle ??? You can always ask them to chang your stim meds and ask them to double check you dose ! It dose not sound right my RE said that he is giving me the max dose of Gonal-f and follistim total 300ius per day ! If you need any more advie to get your meds I have more ideas to try and help ! Gonal-F doses vary for different women depending on age and previous history (i.e. poor response).
