Well, they put me on the clomid because I just don't ovulate on my own or at least that's the reason that I understood them to have put me on it for anyway. I try to take as little medicine/pills as possible but it just can't be avoided a lot of the times. Maybe you're not having a problem ovulating so you don't need it? I don't know. I told the nurse, just tell me what to do because this all new to me. What brand of prenatal vitamins are you taking? I've been taking them for about three months now but I kind of just picked a brand out. I keep meaning to ask them when I go in what the best brand would be but then I get there and get preoccupied with everything else and forget. Yeah, I was shocked that I didn't have to take the perverra. The doctor gave me a prescription for it and then I started on my own which was shocking seeing as how I have a period once or twice a year on my own. That's a hard question to answer because I got married at 22 and I'm 30 now. We will be married 8 years in July and I was only on birth control pills for about 9 months to a year when we married. I tried out another type of bc pill maybe 3 years or so into the marriage but wasn't on them too long (bc pills tend to make me really depressed) so we just decided to not plan anything and kept hoping it would happen you know, naturally. Yeah, well, that didn't go very welll (obviously). So about three years ago I went to the OB/GYN and said that we would like to start trying so I started back on the Fortamet (I told you I wasn't always good about taking my meds. right?) and was on that for about a year. I was trying to save up some money and didn't want to go to a specialist. So after a year I switched from the Fortamet (basically the same thing as Metformin but Fortamet is the name brand or one name brand and is coated to help with side effects but it's a lot more money) I switched to the metformin and had to learn to deal with the side effects all over again. So about that same time about 2 and half years ago I had the hsg done and my tubes were open but the left one was slow.  Just after this my husband and everyone he worked with lost their job so we got something like two months behind on bills but were able to get caught up again. So about a year ago my husband went in for a sperm test and it came back with 0 there. Another test, same results, the urologist my OB/GYN had referred us to said it would be a waste of money for us to try to continue w/my husband as the biological father. So, we decided to go with a sperm donor which was really, really, really hard for me to accept but not for my husband. He was all for it. So, I procrastinated and then this past February my biological clock exploded in my face with alot of pain/heavy bleeding leading to the endometriosis diagnosis. I went to the specialist adn decided to get serious. We had the first IUI on May 4th and got the negative test result on May 19. Sorry, I think I typed too much. The answer is 2 and half to 3 years :)

Yeah, I'm pro life and its hard not to be after going through this. I used to be prochoice in my college years but about five years ago I saw the error of my ways and am anti-abortion. I think it's really sad that women do that but then I used to think that way too (before I became a Christian) and so I really just feel sorry for women in her situation. Yeah, it makes me mad too and I think that's just a human response and normal. I'm really glad your tubes are both open, that is definitely good, good news! Yeah, hang in there with the metformin maybe I'm just weird but it took me months to really get used to the stuff. I really didn't lose any weight from it until after the dosage was increased and then I had to cut calories. But still that's an improvement over before. So, you've started your period now and it's really heavy or are you just finishing it up? What's the next step IUI, IVF? Keep me posted !!!! Me, I'm just waiting until Friday.... Oh I am still waiting.

Hang in there. Yeah, it did hurt but I guess we both knew it would. They gave me Loratabs after the laproscopy and although usually I'm not a big fan of taking pills, I was that week. The third day after was the worst. I was so sore. I told my doctor he'd better find a way to fix this because I'm not doing that again LOL. But once it's over, it's over and then there will be a baby and it will be all worth it! So stay positive :)

Keep me posted on how things go for you! Good Luck!

I have polcycystic ovarian syndrome. I'm not sure about polyps but the first thing the my OB/GYN did, before putting me on fertility meds. or referring me to a fertility specialist was a hysteroscopy to make sure my tubes weren't blocked. He said he didn't see the point of putting me on medicine if everything was all stopped up. Then this past year I begin having other problems and my OB/GYN did a laparoscopy and diagnosed me with endometriosis. I know with the polycystic ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) they put me on Metformin which helped a lot. Maybe they can do something similar for polyps? Like magda_s I'm not trying to give false hope but I don't think it's important to stay positive and when they did the hysteroscopy on me I know my doctor said it would flush everything out of the tubes and when he did the laparoscopy he went in and (I hate to use this word it's still painful to think about it) but he scraped out all of the built up tissue, etc... I hope I've been of some help! Good Luck!

I'm no expert and I don't want to get your hopes up incorrectly ... also, I haven't had polyps before ... but I think that you most certainly still have a chance to get pregnant if that's all it is.  They just need to do the hysteroscopy and lap and to clear out anything like the polyps.
I wish you the best of luck.
