ICSI baby

I had IVF and ICSI and now we are 4wks preggie.  We are so excited but I am also worried about the health of my baby.  It is so hard, first you have to deal with the stressors of the IVF now we just want to be excited but I can't stop thinking about the proccess hurting the embryo.  I have read conflicking info about ICSI and that it can cause an increased risk for birth abnormalities.  Has anyone had or known anyone who went through both processes and has had a healthy baby?  Desperately needing a possitive vibe.  Hang in there everyone who is trying, God has a plan for you!

Congratulations!

I just wanted to add some more reassurance that icsi works and doesn't harm the embryo. I had my icsi cycle in January and am now nearly 25 weeks pregnant, our baby looks to be doing great, all of our u/s were normal. It's hard not to stress after going through ivf/icsi as it's such a rollercoaster but try and relax and enjoy being pregnant!

Hi, I've been a bit nervous as well for my baby because our gestational carrier is now almost 6 weeks pregnant with our baby. We did ICSI as well. I've done some research online and have seen some scary things, but I think the risk is very small. At least I hope so. I don't think clinics would do it if it was that dangerous. Good luck to you.

We too had an ICSI IVF cycle after a failed IVF and are now 5 weeks pregnant. Never once have I had fears that that process could have caused damage. Our embryos were as close to perfect as could be and we also had assisted hatching to try and ensure implantation. Now at 5 weeks I can't wait for the 6 week u/s to take a peek at what is going on inside. The science of IVF amazes me, and it was the only way DH and I could hope to become parents to our own children. Helen is right in the fact that as the embie implanted it has shown that it is strong and healthy.

Our clinic did not do icsi for us but many clinics perform icsi for all patients no matter what just to ensure fertilization.  They would not do that if there were increased risks.  I am sure that your little embryo is doing well.  The fact that it implanted is a good sign of health already.
Congrats!!!!

Ahhh, that's sweet.  Thank you.  Well, my Dr really just insisted that we do ICSI too, because it would increase our chances, and now we are pregnant so I guess he knows what he is doing.  I wish you the best of luck in Sept!

I am so excited for you!  I will be going through IVF with ICSI, hopefully, in September.  You give me hope.  I have done a lot of research about the process and from what I understand there is no increased risk to the baby.  I have seen other items on the internet, though - but I don't think that they are credible.  You should talk with your Doctor - I am certain they have good information.   I am very excited for you!
