IUI-looking for a 2WW buddy

I had my first IUI this morning (Saturday) after getting an HCG (Pregnyl) shot on Thursday. I can not test until November 29, 2009. I am hopeful, but not sure what to expect. My husband has two varicoceles and I have PCOS. We just happened upon a viable follicle on Monday when I had my first consult with the RE. She was surprised too. My husband's sperm wash showed good motility so we shall see. So far since the shot I have had headaches and a little tired. Don't want to get fooled by the HCG symptoms as pregnancy, but I know it will be hard. I also have to take the Progesterone capsules vaginally starting Sunday night b/c my uterine lining was a little thinner than she wanted.

Hi ladies, I am on10dpiui, feel bad back ache, metallic taste all day round, slight nausea and tiredness. Can I be preggo?
My doc has advised me to do the test on 28th of this month, but I am going crazy and I think i might as well do HPT tomorrow. Can progesterone supplements give a false positive.
Seeking some advice, TIA:)

Well I will not be joining any of you on the train this month. I got my prescription for BCP that I am to start tomorrow. Not very happy about it b/c even though we couldn't do IUI I was looking forward to at least being able to try in December. The RE is concerned as I was that AF will not be done in time for the HSG and the saline ultrasound of my uterus next week. BCP will give me AF at the end of the month too so I can then start clomid, then HCG shot and IUI in January. I will take the time this month to have some wine, eat what I want and just prepare to be preggers! Got to think positive ladies!

ajs20:  Sorry to hear about AF. I hope you get your BFP next cycle.

stef1222: Any news?

Take care girls! Sending lots of baby dust!

So I stupidly took a pregnancy test on Monday night (early and I had been drinking a lot of fluids) and it was negative but I know better than to take one early and not do it in the morning.  I didn't cry which was suprising for me.  However, it is 14dpiui and 38 hours past my trigger shot and I haven't gotten AF.  I am thinking it is a good sign and I haven't tested again and probably won't till Friday.  I usually respond like clockwork to the ovidrel too.  My boobs are huge but they get big anyways before that time and I have been nauseated in the morning and sometimes at night.  So it is iffy.  Congrats to the positives and keep us posted.  You give us all hope.  Us for the negatives, you will get yours just keep your head up.  I will keep you all posted.

We got two BFP's out of this group ladies! Bamagirl316 and Babybarrett4 are both prego! Very exciting!

I am right there with our other BFN's-it's so disappointing. Take care of yourselves.

As for me AF showed this morning, but I am so glad b/c I need to get my baseline bloodwork done so we can do our next IUI and possibly clomid in January. We are still going to do the HCG trigger shot and try it naturally this month, although I'm not super hopeful with my husband having the double varicoceles. IUI may be out best shot. I am trying to stay positive and recognize that this could be a long journey. It helps to have the support of all the wonderful people on this site!

Take care everyone and for those of you who have not tested yet: ajs20, stef1222, and Kiko33122 -if I left anyone out forgive me! Good luck girls! Baby dust and blessings!

I know that they can use provera to induce a period.  I do not know about the IUI and Christmas thing...but if your hormones all return to baseline (Estrogen less than 100 and HCG 0)  they should be able to start you on medications on day 3 and then do your ultrasound on Day 12 (if you do oral meds) and see if they can give you your HCG shot and so on.  I do not know if clomid has an affect on the length of your period or not, but I would guess not since it suppresses the hormones that are responsible for only letting your body produce one follicle, and instead lets your body produce a few follicles.  Hopefully this helps.

Congratulations on your BFP!

All:
For those of us who got BFN's or AF try to stay positive. I know it's easier said than done. I will test one more time tomorrow and then call my RE on Monday. Looks like quite a few of us will be on the TWW train again next month together. Take care of yourselves!

Re: PCOS-anyone can answer this. I have a question about PCOS and irregular periods. Does anyone know what they use to induce a period if I don't get one? Then my concern is that if I do get AF that it won't stop in time for me to do an IUI before Christmas. Does clomid help stopping AF or does it make it shorter? These are my new concerns as I doubt that this IUI took. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I go Monday to confirm my pregnancy!! Got my 2 lines 15dpiui! So I hope everything is going on track. Dont want to tell anyone bc of my 2 m\c before. But I cant quit shaking! I hoping all you guys get some good news in the next few days!

Oh My insurance doesnt cover IUI's at all I have to pay out of pocket and its 250 per IUI which is alot cheaper than 10000 for IVF. Copays for my meds and all as well so each cycle is about $340.00. Hope that helps!

FSH shots...are Follicle Stimulating Hormones (self injectables) I did those as well as the trigger shot right before IUI then they had me give myself another trigger a week after IUI as a booster. Does your insurance cover both IVF and IUI ? If my insurance covered IVF i would certiantly skip the injectables and IUI and move to IVF...however my insurance covers everything BUT IVF.
Feel free to pick my brain all you'd like...hope im able to answer...
that trigger shot is such s TEASE ! it really makes u believe u are pregnant with all the symptoms it gives you...ughhh

After I asked this, I realized you are on injectables....I may want to pick your brain on this and how it is going for you. As if this cycle did not take (it was my last on clomid) i may go the injectable route before even thinking of IVF.....although my RE woul rather see me do IVF. I cannot wrap my head around that yet.

I am expecting AF on Tuesday and if I don't get it I will test on Wednesday.  I am so sorry for those of you getting the disappointments, but keep trying.  I have found for me it works best to absolutely NOT test early.  It is easier for me to wait to take that test and get AF than to see the negative test.  I also have learned not to read anything into my symptoms.  I have had the sorest, hugest, hardest boobs and still a negative.  This month I don't have sore boobs and I always get sore boobs every month but I think that is becasue I am taking 81 mg of aspirin a day.  I have had some nausea in the morning especially the last three or four days but that is maybe because I have had to work;).  Who knows.  DH is so hopeful this month.  Last night I told him I will probably have to go to the RE on Tuesday or Wednesday for my initial US before the next tx and he told me to not start planning that yet.  I am always the pessimist I guess.  I will let you all know.  Good Luck to all of you coming to the end of the train.

I am sorry for your BFN..UGH it is so tough!!  I had to take the HCG trigger for just one cycle a few months back and that thing messed with me like no one's business!
My hubby was even convinced I was preggo..with all the symptoms I was having. I have not been on the Progesterone-- keep positive though this was your 1st IUI and I am not sure if your RE told you but after 2 IUI's your chances get greater. (I don;t know why).  I am 11dpiui and I have been crampy and my boobs are so sore...but that is like before AF comes...so I will see what happens here over the next few days. Sending you hugs and baby dust!! :-)

jennlaurin80- what is the FSH shot? i was curious....is that the same thing as the HCG shot?

I don't have Blue Care Network, but your insurance should have it listed in your policy online. Or you could call them. My RE's office had an infertility line to Aetna that I had to call in order to get my billing number and find out how many treatments I was approved for. We are approved for 6 IUI's in a lifetime. Most of my medications are covered. If we don't get preggo in 6 tries I guess we would go back to adoption b/c insurance does not cover IVF and there are certainly no guarantees with IVF. I really hope it doesn't come to that though!

Check on your insurance website they may have a number to call regarding infertility. Hope this helps! And I totally agree with the testing early. It took everything in my power to not test too early and now that I tested yesterday and today I don't feel any better! Take care! Let me know when you start your next TWW-we may be together again!

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving...even got a faint 2nd line again. Only to turn around and start spotting the very next day. So i guess the first time didnt work with IUI....here goes round 2. I was really wishing hard that i didnt have to go through all of this again.
For all of those starting IUI for the 1st time----DONT test early....it really messes with your mind...makes you obsessed, and crazy. I wont ever do that to myself again.
I kept saying to myself im only going to test one time early so i can see what a 2nd line looks like. Yeah right...one time my arse !
Going in for BW Monday and just ordered some more FSH shots.
Does anyone out there have Blue Care Network and know how much or many times they cover for infertility treatments?? I am so worried the next time i call they will be saying i am to my limit.

Hi ladies, not sure what's going on, but I'm not feeling as hopeful! No AF yet, but my system is so off track that's not uncommon. I'm 14dpiui and got my second BFN. Ugh! The doctor wanted me to test tomorrow as my first day, but not sure that anything will be different at this point. I'm not even getting a faint line or anything hopeful. I guess the Progesterone can cause metallic taste b/c I still have it, plus nausea, tired, and headaches. I usually get really irritable and tired with AF, but none of this other stuff.

Because this was such a fluke with the RE finding a follicle the first time I went in I haven't been put on anything to regulate my cycle yet. If I'm not pregnant I need her to show up in a timely manner so that we can possibly get another IUI in before Christmas. I still have lots of testing to do if she does show. More BW, the HSG test, and something else I can't remember. I was just so sure that I was preggo! Lots of good symptoms even though HCG shot had left my system. I guess Progesterone can do all that too! Sorry I just needed to vent.

trying_hard_for_number_three:
Welcome! You are catching most of us at the end of our TWW, but I think some of us will be starting the train again soon.

Did we get any BFP's this time? I haven't heard from any of you in a while. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Take care.

Hello--
I am hoping I can join your forum...even though I am not on the tww train quite yet.
A little about me....I have 2 children--without any problems...one I had in college, and the other right into our marriage--both kind of hard times.  About one and a half years ago, we decided we wanted a third-we finally were all settled and ready.  Well, that was not the way it would be.  I had ovarian cysts...which were cleared up with Yaz....then we tried...nothing...Yaz again for a cyst....and have tried two more times with Lexatrole and Ovidrel trigger shot/timed intercourse.  Last month I had 3 good-lookin' (haha) follies, 8 mm lining (sad that we know all these numbers etc.)...and like "usuk" said, nothing!  It does get hard when scientifically everything seems perfect-o.
The dr. suggested this month we go ahead and do an IUI...my husband hasn't had a sperm count yet, but he decided that if we are going to do a count, might as well shove those damn swimmers up there, too.
So, trying that probably next Saturday.
Interested to see how the iui goes...and wishing that all of us can end this forum soon and talk about feeling morning sick, etc.
Hoping everyone had a nice Thanksgiving, and we can get Christmas gifts next month!

So sorry. DH an I had all the best indicators this month. 3-4 follies, over 100 miliion sperm, etc. But nothing. Do not be upset that you believed. The trigger shots in my opinon leave your urine before they stop affecting your boobs, nausea, etc. I have BFNs and still have PG symptoms at the last minute before AF (metallic taste, sore BBs, nausea). Hang in there. :)

Well I finally got my results and I am sad to say its a BFN. My blood results confirmed this and I am to stop taking the progesterone (yes suppositories) and AF should show up any day. I told myself I wouldnt cry but I did - I thought I would be use to the negative results by now. But I did feel good about this cycle and felt the most hope I'd felt in a long time - I think thats what got me. Everything seemed so perfect this time I thought for sure it would work. I even thought I had some pregnancy symptoms but perhaps I was just wanting it too much. I guess its not meant to be - alteast not this time. My DH and I will wait until February now to try IUI again as we are planning a trip to Jamaica now - who knows, maybe Jamaica will be good for us!

Anyways, I wish you all luck! I hope to see some good news soon!

I did hear that progesterone can prolong AF's arrival. I know how frustrating that must be to hear. I only have a few more days before I can test and I'm not a regular girl anyway so who knows if AF will show up.Try to keep yoruself busy and think positive thoughts! I will be praying for you!

Oh, one more question, were you taking suppositories or some other form of progesterone? Today is such a weird day compared to others. Today would be 13 days past the HCG shot and 11dpiui so I'm assuming the HCG shot is out of my system. However, today I felt an overwhelming nausea, moreso than normal. I know that can be a side effect of Progesterone too. I'm so confused b/c I don't know if this is evidence of a BFP soon or just my body still responding to Progesterone.

If anyone else has experience with the HCG and the Progesterone suppositories I would love to hear your experiences. Thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Take care and here's to many BFP's this month I hope!

Today I am 16dpiui and went to the doctors for my BW. Apparently I have to wait until the morning to get the results! Arrgghh, one more day of waiting! Anyways, while I was at the doctors I was told that the progesterone I am taking can prevent AF from showing up, so they didn't seem that surprised that it hadn't come yet! I was feeling good before I went to the doctors and now I am afraid that perhaps it will be a BFN. Apparently when you stop taking the progesterone that's when AF will show up. It doesn't work this way for everyone but many wont get AF while on the progesterone. I never knew this, so all along I was happy that AF hadn't reared its ugly head but really it doesn't matter? Oh well, tomorrow I will know one way or another. One more restless night of sleep.

Hope everyone else is hanging in there too. Wishing you all BFP!!
